Spectra Packaging collaborates with House of Pineapple on eco-friendly premium bottles

UK – Spectra Packaging, a manufacturer of high-quality plastic packaging, has collaborated with The House of Pineapple, a UK-based amenities and personal care products company, to supply premium bottles for The Little Amenities Box collection.

The bottles are made from Prevented Ocean Plastic (POP), sourced from coastal areas vulnerable to plastic pollution and recycled into new packaging.

Spectra used translucent bottles with a three-color print, featuring its 50 mL Boston Round bottle made with 35% POP through injection-stretch blow molding, paired with a 35% POP polypropylene (PP) injection-molded screw cap.

The Little Amenities box Collection includes body wash, conditioner, shampoo, body lotion, and Himalayan bath salt.

Mark Kingston, marketing manager at Spectra, said, “The brand sourced POP in its product packaging and recycled leathers and explores ways to be more environmentally conscious.”

“House of Pineapple believes that luxury and responsibility can coexist, and they are dedicated to making choices that benefit both their customers and the planet.”

The House of Pineapple provides eco-friendly, personalised amenities for luxury rental properties and hotels.

It offers products such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, bath salt, lotion, vanity kits, disposable shower caps and slippers, bottle tags, and hairdryer storage bags.

All House of Pineapple products are free of SLS, parabens, and phthalates.

The POP program involves local collectors retrieving discarded plastic bottles from high-risk ocean pollution areas, delivering them to collection centers for payment, and sorting, baling, and shipping them to recycling factories to be processed into raw flakes and pellets for new packaging.

Kingston said, “POP initiatives help reduce ocean plastic pollution and provide businesses and consumers a more ethical plastic choice.

“Since adopting the material into its polyethylene terephthalate, high-density polyethylene, and PP supply chain in 2022, Spectra’s commitment has helped divert over 60 million plastic bottles from entering oceans at risk from ocean plastic pollution.”

Similarly, Lush, a British cosmetic retailer specializing in fresh, handmade cosmetics, recently teamed up with Spectra Packaging to implement certified recycled Prevented Ocean Plastic for its 100ml, 250ml and 500ml bottles.

All the manufacturing sites for Lush have adopted to the use of Prevented Ocean Plastic for the three sizes, while the transition for 1L bottles continues across all markets.

This collaboration between Spectra Packaging and The House of Pineapple reinforces the growing industry shift towards sustainable, ethical packaging solutions, ensuring that luxury and environmental responsibility go hand in hand.
