Interparfums acquires Maison Goutal to expand its luxury fragrance portfolio

FRANCE – French fragrance manufacturer and distributor Interparfums has acquired Maison Goutal, a prestigious luxury perfume brand, to expand its high-end fragrance portfolio.

The acquisition includes all intellectual property rights of Maison Goutal worldwide, transferred from Amorepacific Europe.

Goutal will be managed by Amorepacific Europe under a license agreement for a given period before Interparfums, in collaboration with its licensee, assumes complete control in 2026.

Philippe Benacin, CEO of Interparfums, stated, “This acquisition reflects our strategy of broadening our product offering to include high-end fragrances.”

“This brand, known for its iconic lines such as L’Eau d’Hadrien and Petite Chérie, has substantial potential in this highly dynamic segment.”

Goutal was first acquired by Starwood Capital,  an American investment firm, in 2005 before being sold to Amorepacific, a South Korean cosmetics company, in 2011.

Interparfums operates through two main segments: its European division, managed via its 72 % -owned subsidiary, Interparfums SA, and its United States-based operations.

The company specializes in developing, manufacturing, and distributing prestige fragrances and fragrance-related products, including perfumes, colognes, and luxury bath and body items.

This acquisition aligns with Interparfums’ strategy of broadening its portfolio and strengthening its position in the dynamic luxury fragrance segment.

Camille Goutal, the founder’s daughter, will remain involved in the creative process, preserving the brand’s legacy and values.

Interparfum manages brands like Jimmy Choo, Montblanc, Lacoste, and Coach.

Meanwhile, in FY24, the company recorded a 10% rise in net profit, amounting to EUR 129.9 million(USD 142.89 million), with its operating margin surpassing 20% for the year.

In addition to acquiring Maison Goutal, Interparfums recently extended its licensing agreement with Coach for another five years until June 2031.

This partnership, which began in 2015, has been a significant success.

Coach fragrance sales soared from under €10 million(USD 10.8 million) in 2015 to nearly €190 million(USD 205.2 million) in 2024.

To further strengthen its position in the market, Interparfums plans to launch two new Coach fragrances in 2025, demonstrating its commitment to innovation and expansion in the luxury fragrance industry.
