PrimalHyal UltraReverse is designed to target key aging factors at the DNA level.
SWITZERLAND – Givaudan Active Beauty, a Swiss manufacturer of fragrances and active cosmetic ingredients, has unveiled PrimalHyal UltraReverse, a skincare ingredient.
This product is the smallest and most sustainable hyaluronic acid ever developed, with an ultra-low molecular weight of less than 3 kDa.
It is designed to penetrate skin cells and act at the DNA level, addressing key hallmarks of aging such as genomic instability, epigenetic control, telomere attrition, and loss of proteostasis.
PrimalHyal™ UltraReverse targets these biological pathways to help protect the skin from chronological aging and environmental stressors, known as the exposome.
According to the company, the ingredient boosts Sirtuin 1 by 136% and improves Collagen 1 production by 48%, resulting in visibly younger and healthier skin, with an apparent age reduction of up to six years.
In addition, it corrects signs of aging, including wrinkles and sleep lines, while enhancing skin firmness.
Produced through precision fermentation, PrimalHyal™ UltraReverse sets a new benchmark for sustainable, high-performance skincare.
Romain Reynaud, Research & Development Director, stated, “Building on the expertise of PrimalHyal™ 50 Life, strain engineering experts at Alderys have designed PrimalHyal™ UltraReverse, an ultra-low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, lower than 3kDa, that unlocks new biological benefits.”
“Produced by precision fermentation, its environmental impact is drastically reduced, setting a new benchmark for sustainable, high-performance skincare.”
Recently, Givaudan Active Beauty introduced Evernityl, a marine-sourced active ingredient formulated to combat skin aging while enhancing elasticity, tone, and overall skin health.
Evernityl is derived from Laminaria hyperborea, a macroalgae found in the rocky coastal areas of the North Atlantic.
This ingredient is developed through an innovative upcycling process, transforming byproducts from biostimulant production into a high-value cosmetic ingredient.
The ingredient focuses on a newly discovered biological mechanism known as Porphyr’ageing, which involves porphyrins—metabolites generated by the skin’s microbiota that accelerate the aging process.
According to Givaudan, porphyrins play a role in oxidative stress, pigmentation issues, irregularities, and the degradation of extracellular matrix (ECM) components.
Evernityl functions by blocking porphyrin production, facilitating their removal through autophagy, and diminishing dark spots, all while improving skin elasticity and firmness.
Meanwhile, the company recently introduced DandErase, a botanical active ingredient that eliminates dandruff and promotes scalp health.
DandErase inhibits the growth of Malassezia, a fungus naturally present in the skin microbiota.
It prevents overgrowth triggered by environmental factors and restores scalp balance for long-lasting anti-dandruff effects.
