Amcor and Fedrigoni team up to develop recyclable wet wipe packaging

The complete pack is designed for recycling in the PE recycling stream.

SWITZERLAND – Amcor, a global packaging company, has partnered with Fedrigoni, a manufacturer of self-adhesive labels and paper packaging, to create a new flexible wet wipe solution designed to enhance the recyclability of personal and home care products.

The innovative solution merges Amcor’s AmPrima Plus flow wrap with Fedrigoni’s semi-rigid label, resulting in a lighter and more environmentally friendly product.

Geoffrey Gendebien, marketing manager of Home and Personal Care at Amcor, stated, “ By combining the AmPrima wet wipe flow wrap with Fedrigoni’s semi-rigid label, Amcor and Fedrigoni have achieved something special.”

“This complete pack is designed for recycling in the PE recycling stream.”

According to Amcor, the solution is certified by RecyClass and cyclos-HTP and has been designed in line with the European Union’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which aims to make all packaging recyclable by 2030.

The AmPrima Plus flow wrap solution can also incorporate post-consumer recycled content, meeting the PPWR’s requirement for plastic packaging to contain a minimum percentage of recycled materials.

Federico Lanzi, marketing and R&D director at Fedrigoni Self-adhesives, said, “As a challenging and technical sector, improving the recycle-readiness of home and personal care products will be instrumental to the success of the PPWR regulation.”

In addition to recyclability, the new packaging reduces plastic usage and weight by up to 15% compared to traditional multi-material packs with rigid labels.

It also helps brands save up to 35% in Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) fees.

Based on Amcor’s ASSET life cycle assessment methodology, certified by The Carbon Trust, the new packs boast a carbon footprint reduction of up to 55%.

Recently, Amcor was recognized for its leadership in sustainable innovation at the 2025 Flexible Packaging Achievement Awards, receiving two Silver Awards in the Sustainability category.

The awards were presented during the Flexible Packaging Association’s Annual Meeting in Aventura, Florida.

One of the winning innovations was Amcor’s Moda Vacuum Packaging for U.S. Beef Exports, which significantly lowers the environmental footprint while improving operational efficiency.

The second award-winning solution was the Once Upon a Farm CHEERCircle PE Recycle-Ready Spouted Pouch, developed in partnership with the children’s nutrition brand Once Upon a Farm.

Fedrigoni offers a range of innovative and sustainable packaging materials tailored for the home care industry.

Their Open & Close solutions are ideal for wet wipe packaging, providing easy opening and secure resealing for household, baby, makeup remover, and even pet care wipes.
