The ingredient tackles mostly skin irritation and redness.
SWITZERLAND – Mibelle Group, a Swiss company specializing in personal care, beauty, home care, and nutrition, has introduced AmelioSense, an ingredient targeting skin irritation, redness and pyroptosis.
The product combines the natural extract of shepherd’s purse, a plant from the cruciferous family (Brassicaceae), with a liposomal preparation of three powerful antioxidants, including carnosine, tocopherol, and silymarin.
AmelioSense addresses pyroptosis, a type of programmed inflammatory cell death associated with rosacea, while minimizing overall skin inflammation.
Dr. Franziska Wandrey, head of research at Mibelle Biochemistry Group, stated, “It’s for skin with red flushes, that is prone to rosacea, and has underlying inflammation, irritation, itching, etc.”
“The ingredient is a mix of different extracts, including a plant extract from shepherd’s purse — a known remedy in ancient times for wound healing and to stop bleeding — mixed with a potent antioxidant complex, encapsulated for better penetration into the skin.”
The company recently unveiled a Soothing Anti-Redness Serum with AmelioSense for delicate Skin.
The formulation also incorporates squalane, glycerin, and oils from rice germ, almond, and jojoba, balancing the skin barrier and maintaining a lightweight texture.
According to the company, this serum addresses the challenges of hypersensitive skin, which reacts to environmental changes with irritation, redness, and flushing, offering relief and care for affected individuals.
According to a report published at MDPI, recent studies revealed the rising occurrence of skin irritation and redness associated with pyroptosis, particularly in conditions like psoriasis and hidradenitis suppurativa.
Pyroptosis, a form of inflammatory programmed cell death, plays a significant role in amplifying skin inflammation and disrupting immune responses, although precise data on case numbers remains scarce.
Meanwhile, the Mibelle Group was acquired by Persán, the Seville-based multinational leader in home care and personal hygiene products from Swiss retailer Migros.
Migros chose to divest the Mibelle Group to concentrate on its core supermarket business and local operations within Switzerland.
The merged company is anticipated to generate more than €1 billion (USD 1.08 billion) in total revenue.
Persán will assume control of all Mibelle Group employees and facilities across Switzerland, France, the UK, the Netherlands, the US, and Australia.
However, the deal excludes Mibelle Group’s South Korean subsidiary, Gowoonsesang Cosmetics, which was acquired by L’Oréal last year.
Migros’ private label brands, including Handy, I Am, and Zoé, which the Mibelle Group produces, will remain available in its stores.
However, the parties involved have not disclosed the terms of the sale, including the price.
