Azelis partners with Agrana to expand distribution of personal care ingredients in Asia.

The partnership responds to the increasing demand for naturally derived personal care products.

ASIA – Azelis Group, a Belgium-based distributor, has expanded its partnership with Agrana, an Austrian-based industrial company, with a distribution agreement, effective immediately.

Azelis has been appointed to distribute Agrana’s PuraBeet for the personal care sector across China, Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand.

The move aims to support customers in creating sustainable formulations while reinforcing the partnership’s existing collaboration across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia Pacific.

PuraBeet, a multifunctional skincare ingredient from Agrana, is 100% plant-based and naturally sourced from sugar beet molasses as crystalline betaine.

It boosts skin hydration, strengthens the skin barrier against harmful agents, and helps reduce inflammation caused by chemicals in personal care products.

In addition, it enhances the sensory experience by improving texture and spreadability.

Jochen Warnecke, head of sales, marketing & SCM – Betaine of Agrana, stated, “Recognizing the growing demand for clean products, we are confident that Azelis, with a strong focus on sustainable solutions, is an ideal partner to support our growth in these key markets.”

“Their outstanding technical capabilities, advanced in-house laboratories and dedicated local technical sales teams will enable us to meet the needs of our customers effectively.”

Agrana specializes in converting agricultural raw materials into premium ingredients for various industries.

In the personal care sector, Agrana offers natural starch-based ingredients for hair styling, skincare, deodorants, and decorative cosmetics.

Its biodegradable formulations offer sustainable alternatives to synthetic components, aligning with eco-conscious beauty trends.

Agrana’s commitment to innovative, sustainable solutions complements Azelis’s strategy of providing responsible and cutting-edge options to customers.

The partnership responds to the increasing demand for naturally derived and eco-conscious products with a higher natural index, reinforcing both companies’ dedication to sustainability.

In a similar move, BASF’s U.S. personal care division transitioned to a single distributor model, partnering with Azelis’ DeWolf Chemical and Ross Organic companies, effective July 1.

According to BASF, by integrating advanced technology and upholding a commitment to sustainability, the company continues to lead in providing high-quality, industry-leading ingredient solutions and digital services to customers in the personal care sector.

Brandon Crist, vice president, business management, personal care Americas at BASF, said, “This collaboration strengthens BASF’s ability to meet the evolving needs of our customers while reinforcing our leading position in the personal care industry.”
