This collaboration aims to meet the growing demand for microencapsulation technology, which enhances ingredient delivery and bioavailability.
USA – Lubrizol, an American provider of speciality chemicals, has secured a distribution partnership with Palmer Holland, a speciality chemical and ingredient distributor, to expand the availability of its ingredient solutions for the nutraceutical, dietary supplement, and food and beverage market segments across the USA.
Lubrizol stated the deal will help meet a growing demand for its core technology, microencapsulation. This technology optimizes ingredient delivery and bioavailability to ensure effective and enjoyable nutraceutical products.
Ricardo Pereira, Senior Director of Regional Business at Lubrizol, said, “Recent clinical and consumer studies have affirmed the benefits of our microencapsulation technology in terms of taste and sensorial profile, along with absorption and bioavailability for our products, Lipofer and Magshape.
Pereira expressed enthusiasm about bringing its innovation to a broader audience, stating that its new partnership with Palmer Holland would extend its market reach and empower customers to develop the next generation of innovative solutions.
The agreement with Palmer Holland covers Lubrizol’s portfolio of nutraceutical-branded ingredients manufactured in Europe.
The microcapsules include Lipofer Iron, Magshape Magnesium, Zincnova Zinc, Curcushine Curcumin, Newcaff Caffeine, Lipophytol Phytosterol, and Lipocal Calcium.
Bret Horace, Palmer Holland’s VP in Consumer & Life Sciences, said, “Lubrizol’s value proposition and focus on quality align well with Palmer Holland’s mission to source branded ingredients designed to meet the needs of tomorrow. With this partnership, we are addressing the needs of our customers by offering a best-in-class solution to assist in the creation of healthier, better-tasting nutraceutical products.”
Recently, Lubrizol shared clinical research insights backing the bioavailability of Magshape, the company’s magnesium microcapsules.
Researchers in the study found that MAGSHAPE microcapsules increased blood plasma Mg levels at all tested time points after the baseline reading.
Additionally, the MAGSHAPE microencapsulation technology enabled a sustained increase in blood plasma Mg levels, maintaining higher levels for up to six hours post-intake.
There were fewer adverse effects, such as intestinal motility and gastric heaviness, with MAGSHAPE microcapsules compared to other Mg sources assessed in the clinical study.
Alan Connolly, R&D manager of Lubrizol Nutraceuticals, said, “Based on the observed increase in blood plasma magnesium levels, this innovative solution has the potential to benefit individuals seeking to maintain adequate magnesium levels for overall health and well-being as well as people seeking improved muscle recovery or enhanced sleep patterns.”
