Azelis expands footprint in India with S. Amit Group acquisition

The acquisition aims to strengthen Azelis’s market presence in India.

INDIA – Azelis Group, a Belgium-based distributor,  has announced the acquisition of S. Amit Group, a Mumbai-based distributor specializing in performance chemicals, expanding its market presence in India.

The integration is expected to unlock new opportunities for customers, allowing principals to strengthen partnerships with a globally recognized innovation service provider.

Beyond portfolio expansion, this acquisition brings synergistic advantages, combining S. Amit Group’s dynamic sales approach and logistics expertise with Azelis’s technical innovation. 

This strategic move strengthens Azelis’s market presence in India and aligns with its strategy to reinforce its position as a leading innovation service provider in speciality chemicals and food ingredients.

According to Azelis, the transaction is expected to close in Q2 2025, following regulatory approvals.

With a legacy spanning over 75 years, S. Amit Group has cultivated longstanding relationships with customers and principals across fine and performance chemicals.

S. Amit Group specializes in performance and speciality chemicals, catering to industries such as pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, polymers, and CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers) markets in India. 

Their portfolio includes advanced intermediates, reducing agents, encapsulated catalysts, and resolving agents, supporting diverse chemical applications. IN , they provide raw materials for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and agroactives. 

Recently, Azelis expanded its partnership with Agrana, an Austrian-based industrial company, with a distribution agreement, effective immediately.

Azelis has been appointed to distribute Agrana’s PuraBeet for the personal care sector across China, Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand.

The move aims to support customers in creating sustainable formulations while reinforcing the partnership’s existing collaboration across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia Pacific.

PuraBeet, a multifunctional skincare ingredient from Agrana, is 100% plant-based and naturally sourced from sugar beet molasses as crystalline betaine. 

Agrana specializes in converting agricultural raw materials into premium ingredients for various industries.

In the personal care sector, Agrana offers natural starch-based ingredients for hair styling, skincare, deodorants, and decorative cosmetics.
