Cottonsie taps into growing demand for sustainable baby care with plant-based diaper

This new product is the first world disposable cotton diaper.

USA – Cottonsie, an American brand offering baby care products, has launched a plant-based disposable diaper, designed to offer both sustainability and high performance.

This new diaper replaces conventional plastic components with 100% breathable cotton in key layers, including the top sheet, back sheet, acquisition distribution layer (ADL), and core wrap.

By prioritizing natural fibres, Cottonsie aims to create a healthier microclimate for babies, reducing the risk of diaper rash while maintaining the convenience of disposability.

According to the company, the product features natural cotton in multiple structural layers and achieves a biodegradation rate of 82% within just 18 months.

In addition, the diaper’s cotton layers promote a drier, more breathable environment to help prevent rashes, while synthetic elements ensure performance, balancing sustainability with convenience.

Nicole Richards, founder and CEO of Cottonsie, “Plastic diapers are clogging our landfills and leaching toxins into the environment.”

“We created Cottonsie to give parents a real alternative: a high-performance, comfortable diaper made mostly from natural, biodegradable materials – and priced accessibly for everyday use.”

This product comes at a time when the demand for eco-friendly baby care solutions is surging, driven by growing concerns over plastic waste and its long-term environmental impact.

According to the report by Market Research Future, the biodegradable baby diapers market was valued at USD 49.43 billion in 2024 and is projected to grow to USD 144.48 billion by 2034, reflecting a CAGR of 11.32% over the forecast period.

This growth is driven by increasing consumer awareness of environmental sustainability, regulatory support for eco-friendly products, and advancements in biodegradable materials.

As demand for sustainable baby care solutions rises, industry players are focusing on innovation and expanding distribution channels to cater to the evolving preferences of eco-conscious parents.

Cottonsie primarily focuses on plant-based disposable diapers, but the brand is also exploring additional eco-friendly baby care products.

The brand is expected to expand into biodegradable wipes and other sustainable baby essentials that align with its mission of reducing plastic waste in infant care.

Cottonsie offers a range of diaper sizes designed to accommodate babies at different growth stages. sizes ranging from newborn to size 6, covering infants to toddlers.
