Fluus revolutionizes menstrual care with “World’s First” flushable period pad

Fluus aims to provide sustainable period care that promotes both personal comfort and planetary health.

UK – Fluus, a London-based personal hygiene company, has unveiled the “world’s first” flushable period pad, setting a new benchmark in menstrual care by merging convenience with environmental responsibility.

This product is developed using its proprietary Flushtec technology, which allows the entire pad, including its wrapper, to fully biodegrade in water within 30 days, leaving no microplastics or residual waste behind.

In addition, Fluus pads are made from FSC-certified, plant-based materials and are entirely free from plastics, fragrances, and harsh chemicals.

These pads are dermatologically tested and hypoallergenic, designed to be gentle on sensitive skin while offering 15% more absorbency than leading competitors due to their fluid-locking technology.

Co-founded by Dr. Olivia Ahn and engineer Aaron Koshy, Fstated, “Fluus shows that convenience and comprehensive environmental responsibility are not mutually exclusive but viable alternatives to plastic pads.”

“Ultimately, Fluus is about accelerating the transition to a future where the best choice for the planet is also the easiest choice for you.”

The launch addresses a critical environmental challenge whereby around 50 million period products are discarded into UK landfills every month, contributing to an estimated 200,000 tonnes of waste annually.

These products, which are primarily composed of up to 90% plastic, can take 500 to 800 years to decompose, releasing microplastics and harmful chemicals into the environment as they break down.

In addition, the product addresses prevalent usage habits, as research indicates that approximately one-third of users flush pads for convenience or privacy, despite traditional sanitary products not being designed for disposal in this manner.

Fluus aims to provide sustainable period care that promotes both personal comfort and planetary health.

Meanwhile, in the same move of making sustainable feminine products, GreenCore Solutions Corp recently introduced FemCare UltraThin, a new range of tree-free feminine hygiene pads, now available to private label retailers throughout Europe.

According to the brand, the “Lite” variant of FemCare UltraThin pads can absorb up to 55.5 grams of liquid without leaking and with minimal residual wetness.

Independent testing conducted by SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance) has verified the pads’ strong performance in absorbency, leakage protection, and dryness.

The pads are offered in standard packaging that can be tailored to fit the branding of independent retailers.
