SWITZERLAND – The global innovator in nutrition, health, and beauty, dsm-firmenich, has launched PARSOL SLX, a UVB filter designed to elevate sunscreen efficacy while delivering advanced hair protection.
PARSOL SLX is designed with a large molecular structure that enables superior film formation and broad compatibility across formulations.
It is utilized as a light stabilizer in skin care and without restriction in hair care products.
According to dsm-firmenich, this ingredient achieves high SPF performance of up to 50% with less material, offering a silky-smooth, weightless feel on the skin.
Tina Vogt, Director Global Marketing Sun Care at dsm-firmenich, stated, “Its unique polymeric structure allows for reduced ingredient concentration while maintaining superior protection, making it a smart and sensorially pleasing choice for modern sun care formulations.”
In hair formulations, PARSOL SLX protects against UV-induced damage, helping to prevent colour fading, enhance gloss, and condition hair fibres.
Melanie Waeckel, Global Sr. Marketing Manager Hair Care at dsm-firmenich, said, “Instrumental tests demonstrate up to 32% colour retention of red permanent hair. Leveraging the smart film-forming technology, it delivers UV performance, leaving hair soft and smooth.”
The ingredient is approved for use in multiple regions, including Europe, China, and Australia, with concentration limits tailored to specific applications.
With PARSOL SLX, dsm-firmenich sets a new benchmark in UV protection, offering formulators a versatile tool to create elegant, high-performance products that meet the evolving expectations of today’s beauty consumers.
