Amcor partners with Mediacor to launch eco-friendly refill pouch for Nana cleaning products

Nana is the first in the home and personal care sector to adopt Amcor’s AmPrima Refill Pouch.

SWITZERLAND – Amcor, a global leader in packaging solutions, has partnered with Slovenian company Mediacor to introduce a recyclable two-litre spouted stand-up pouch for Mediacor’s Nana brand cleaning products.

According to industry reports, Nana is the first in the home and personal care sector to adopt Amcor’s AmPrima Refill Pouch, marking a milestone in reducing plastic waste through lightweight, mono-material packaging.

The AmPrima pouch, now available in Italy, Germany, Austria, and Slovenia, slashes plastic use by up to 80% and cuts the carbon footprint by 64% compared to two one-litre PET bottles, as determined by Amcor’s Carbon Trust-certified ASSET life cycle assessment.

For nearly a decade, Nana has utilized 100% recycled PET bottles, and this new collaboration with Amcor has enabled the brand to adapt its filling lines for larger, flexible formats, further minimizing packaging weight and environmental impact.

In a statement, Trivko Matovic, Head of Sales and Marketing at Mediacor, emphasized the brand’s commitment to sustainability:

“What matters is not just the product but its packaging. Our partnership with Amcor allows us to take a bold step forward, offering 19 products in a recycle-ready pouch that aligns with our EcoLabel certification.”

Designed with e-commerce in mind, the AmPrima pouch is International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) 6A certified, capable of withstanding 1.5-meter drop tests without leaking or breaking, ensuring durability during shipping.

The pouch also supports the inclusion of post-consumer recycled (PCR) content, aligning with the European Union’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), which mandates increased recyclability and recycled material use by 2030.

In related developments, Amcor recently expanded its sustainable packaging portfolio. In April 2025, the company launched Liquiflex AmPrima pouches for Europe’s foodservice industry, designed for bulk products like sauces and frozen vegetables.

These pouches, also PPWR-compliant, reduce carbon emissions by up to 79% and water consumption by 84% compared to traditional packaging, according to a recent industry update.

“Our Liquiflex AmPrima pouches set a new standard for cost-effective, eco-friendly foodservice packaging,” said Giorgio Dini, Marketing Manager at Amcor Flexibles Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

This innovation follows Amcor’s June collaboration with Cofigeo to develop a recyclable three-compartment tray for William Saurin’s Mon Trio Gourmand microwaveable meals in France.

The lightweight polypropylene tray allows consumers to mix ingredients like vegetables and meat at mealtime, combining convenience with sustainability.
