PCL-Solid green is used to enhance texture and sensory feel in personal care formulations.

GERMANY – Symrise has upgraded its acclaimed emollient, PCL-Solid, to a new formulation called PCL-Solid green, which is made entirely from 100% natural-origin ingredients certified by ISO 16128.
This vegan-friendly emollient replaces all petrochemical feedstocks with sustainable raw materials, aligning with the growing global demand for environmentally responsible and natural cosmetic ingredients.
Despite this green transformation, PCL-Solid green maintains the high performance users expect: it melts quickly upon skin contact, delivering a soft, smooth, and non-greasy feel.
The product is a colorless ester blend with a neutral odor that enhances both texture and consistency in formulations, contributing to a pleasant and caring sensory experience.
It is highly versatile, suited for use across a broad spectrum of applications, including face, body, lip care, color cosmetics, and sunscreens, as well as formats such as stick and water-free products.
In addition to its sensory benefits, PCL-Solid green supports formulation stability by stabilizing emulsions and delivering a silicone-like skin feel that is sustainable, making it an ideal alternative for formulators seeking to reduce synthetic and silicone-based ingredients.
The emollient is globally compliant and patent-pending, representing a strategic innovation that enables personal care brands to meet the growing consumer demand for natural, effective, and sustainable beauty solutions.
With PCL-Solid green, Symrise reinforces its commitment to sustainable beauty innovations by offering a modern, high-performance emollient that beautifully balances nature and efficacy in personal care formulations.
This upgrade underscores the company’s leadership in providing ingredient solutions that satisfy both the ecological values and performance expectations of today’s eco-aware consumers.
Meanwhile, Symrise has officially opened a new production unit at its facility in Granada, Spain, dedicated exclusively to the manufacture of Hydrolite® 5 green, a high-quality, biobased pentylene glycol.
This new plant will significantly enhance the European supply chain for this highly sought-after ingredient, reducing reliance on imports and shortening transport routes, which in turn helps customers lower their Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions.
The expansion represents a significant investment by Symrise and is modeled on its successful Hydrolite 5 green plant in Charleston, USA, reflecting a commitment to engineering excellence and sustainability.
