Marinova secures EU organic certification for its Maritech fucoidan portfolio

The certification enhances the broader acceptance and market readiness of Maritech organic fucoidans worldwide.

AUSTRALIA – Australian ingredient maker Marinova has secured European Union (EU) organic certification for its portfolio of Maritech organic fucoidans, a significant accreditation reflecting the company’s adherence to stringent international production standards.

Maritech organic fucoidans are premium extracts derived from a marine polysaccharide naturally found in brown seaweed, widely used in skincare formulations, dietary supplements, and medical devices.

This EU organic certification complements existing regulatory endorsements for the product line, which include EU Novel Foods authorization, FDA-notified GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) status, and USDA National Organic Program (NOP) certification.

Marinova emphasizes that this accreditation boosts confidence among formulators and consumers by affirming that Maritech organic fucoidans are natural, efficacious, and sourced through a sustainable and transparent supply chain, rigorously and independently audited.

The company consistently sets global benchmarks in environmental stewardship and sustainability, as evidenced by recent recognitions, including the 2025 national winner title in the Healthy Planet, Healthy People category at the Banksia National Sustainability Awards—the foremost sustainability awards program in Australia.

Past accolades also include leadership recognition at the Telstra Best of Business Awards and the Australian Export Awards, further highlighting Marinova’s outstanding sustainability efforts.

Marinova’s Quality Manager, Dr Michelle Mendoza, highlighted that attaining EU organic certification validates the company’s commitment to certified organic and sustainable marine ingredients.

The certification enhances the broader acceptance and market readiness of Maritech organic fucoidans worldwide, reinforcing Marinova’s position as a leader in marine bioactive ingredients, with a focus on sustainability and quality.

In a similar move, Eurofins Assurance Network has recently achieved ISO/IEC 17065:2012 accreditation from the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB), a significant milestone for its Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) certification program.

This accreditation is internationally recognised for certifying products, processes, and services, confirming that Eurofins Assurance maintains a robust quality management system and exhibits the technical competence and controls necessary for reliable compliance assessments.

The ISO/IEC 17065 accreditation enhances Eurofins Assurance’s ability to serve industries that demand stringent quality standards, including pharmaceuticals, dietary supplements, and cosmetics.

The certification program encompasses multiple technical scopes, including dietary supplement GMP process certification (compliance with 21 CFR 111/117 & NSF/ANSI 455-2-2024 standards), dietary ingredient GMP, cosmetic GMP (ISO 22716:2007 or NSF/ANSI 455-3-2024), and OTC drug GMP certification (NSF/ANSI 455-4-2024).
