L’Oréal expands product portfolio with new serum and sunscreen

The launch is a highlight in L’Oréal’s 2025 innovation portfolio and is expected to have a strong impact in the competitive pigmentation treatment market.

KENYA – L’Oréal has launched the Melasyl Serum + Sunscreen SPF 50, a groundbreaking skincare innovation designed to combat stubborn dark spots and pigmentation issues while protecting the skin from sun damage.

The product features Melasyl, a multi-patented molecule developed over 18 years of research and supported by extensive scientific studies.

According to the brand, Melasyl works by regulating melanin production at the cellular level, reducing excess melanin that causes visible spots and uneven skin tone.

This new serum combines the power of Melasyl with broad-spectrum SPF 50, providing both treatment against existing pigmentation marks and prevention of future sun-induced dark spots.

It addresses various types of pigmentation including age spots, post-acne marks, and melasma, making it suitable for all skin tones and types.

Launched with much anticipation in key markets and promoted as part of L’Oréal’s commitment to innovation and diversity, the product delivers visible results, reportedly reducing dark spots by up to 77%.

This dual-action formula reflects L’Oréal’s continued leadership in pigmentation research and skincare technology, blending advanced molecular science with high-level sun protection to meet consumer demand for multi-functional beauty solutions.

This launch comes at a time when Kenya’s face care market is experiencing a surge in consumer interest, especially among urban and digitally connected populations.

L’Oréal East Africa offers skincare, haircare, and cosmetic products tailored to local needs.

The company operates under four major divisions: Consumer Products (including Garnier and Maybelline), Professional Products (such as L’Oréal Professionnel and Matrix), L’Oréal Luxe (featuring premium brands like Lancôme and Yves Saint Laurent), and Dermatological Beauty (with dermatologist-recommended brands like La Roche-Posay and Vichy).

In skincare, L’Oréal East Africa features ranges like Glycolic Bright, which is designed to address uneven skin tone and dullness.

The haiecarea collection includes a pre-treatment, shampoo, rinse-off serum, and leave-in mask, all formulated to repair damaged hair at the molecular level using peptide bonders and amino acids.

In the cosmetics category, L’Oréal East Africa typically distributes makeup essentials like foundations, lipsticks, mascaras, and eyeshadow from brands like L’Oréal Paris and Maybelline.
