Unilever partners with Genesis Biosciences to develop innovative probiotic cleaning technology

USA – Unilever has teamed up with biotechnology company Genesis Biosciences, a global biosciences company,  to innovate probiotic cleaning technologies as part of its Partner with Purpose program.

Genesis Biosciences, known as one of Europe’s most innovative microbial developers and recipient of Unilever’s Clean Future Partner Award, has contributed probiotic strains incorporated in Unilever’s Cif Infinite Clean All-in-One Cleaner Spray.

The partnership reflects both companies’ commitments to sustainability, including the use of environmentally conscious ingredients, cruelty-free and vegan principles, and Genesis’s eco-benign® ethos.

Beyond the Cif Infinite Clean launch, the partnership builds on prior joint projects, such as probiotic floor cleaners across markets including Indonesia, India, and South Africa.

Unilever’s Home Care President Eduardo Campanella emphasized that the partnership challenges traditional cleaning norms by blending Unilever’s focus on sustainable innovation with Genesis Biosciences’ probiotic expertise to create safe, natural, and disruptive cleaning products.

This effort also aligns with Unilever’s Bright Future strategy, which employs science and technology to deliver superior, sustainable consumer products.

Genesis Biosciences continues to research, develop, and test new probiotic formulations with Unilever to transform home cleaning safely and environmentally responsibly, marking a breakthrough in bringing microbial technologies into mainstream cleaning applications worldwide.

Genesis Biosciences formulates its cleaning products with Bacillus strains selected for their ability to produce specific enzymes.

These bacteria penetrate deep into surface pores and imperfections, where they continue to clean long after application.

The probiotics not only digest dirt and grime but also compete with and displace harmful bacteria, creating a healthier microbial environment.

The global market for Probiotic Cleaning Technology is projected to reach USD 2.87 billion by 2031, growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5.5% from 2024, according to a report by Allied Market Research.

This partnership follows Unilever’s recent launch of Cif Infinite Clean, a probiotic all-in-one cleaning solution.

Cif Infinite Clean features a unique blend of naturally derived probiotics, paired with powerful cleaning agents, to deliver exceptional results.

According to Unilever, this product utilizes advanced microbiome technology, enabling probiotics to stay inactive until they come into contact with dirt, where they then activate to deliver a targeted clean.

Once activated, they release enzymes that break down grime, providing a thorough clean that lasts up to 72 hours.

The spray is versatile, suitable for surfaces such as kitchen countertops, electronics, and even soft furnishings.
