This acquisition is a key part of Elementis’ Elevate Elementis strategy.

UK – Elementis has completed the acquisition of UK-based Alchemy Ingredients for USD 22 million on a cash-free, debt-free basis, marking a strategic move to bolster its natural cosmetics and skincare portfolio.
This combination is expected to drive innovation and provide enhanced value to customers worldwide, further advancing the industry’s transition to cleaner, more conscious beauty formulations.
By leveraging Elementis’ global sales and distribution network, Alchemy Ingredients is positioned to scale its business and accelerate market penetration, while Elementis benefits from Alchemy’s specialized research and development capabilities in natural chemistry.
Luc van Ravenstein, CEO of Elementis, stated, “We are delighted to announce the successful completion of this high-quality bolt-on acquisition, which is right in our personal care sweet spot and strengthens our position in the growing natural skin care market.”
Alchemy Ingredients specializes in developing sustainable rheology modifier ingredients for the personal care sector, with products that can fully or partially replace synthetic raw materials in cosmetic formulations.
The company’s core technologies focus on oil and water gelling, enabling the creation of new sensory profiles and textures in cosmetics, which aligns with Elementis’ expertise in formulation solutions and rheology.
This acquisition is a key part of Elementis’ Elevate Elementis strategy, which aims to strengthen its core specialty additives capabilities and accelerate sustainable, long-term growth in the personal care market.
Alchemy Ingredients has demonstrated strong organic growth, with fiscal year 2025 revenues projected to exceed USD 6 million and attractive margins.
The integration of Alchemy’s innovative product range and technical expertise is expected to enhance Elementis’ ability to deliver problem-solving solutions to its global customer base, supporting the industry’s shift toward more sustainable, high-performance ingredients.
Meanwhile, this acquisition follows Elementis’ recent sale of its Talc business to IMI Fabi, an Italian talc manufacturer, for an enterprise value of USD 121 million.
The transaction comes after a strategic review initiated in August 2024, which assessed whether the Talc business would be best retained within Elementis or divested to maximize its potential.
The company concluded that the sale to IMI Fabi represented the best outcome for all stakeholders, ensuring continuity for employees and customers while optimizing Elementis’ portfolio.
