USA – Babo Botanicals, an American skincare and haircare brand, has been awarded the CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women) Excellence in Sustainability Award for its Haircare in a Carton collection, marking a significant milestone in sustainable beauty innovation.
This recognition highlights the brand’s pioneering efforts to reduce plastic waste through its shower-friendly, primarily FSC-certified paper carton packaging, which cuts plastic use by about 80% compared to conventional haircare bottles.
The CEW Excellence in Sustainability Award is given to brands that demonstrate real environmental progress through innovation, responsible sourcing, and meaningful reductions in plastic waste.
Mathilde La Ferve, Vice President of Marketing for Babo Botanicals, said, “It is an honor to be recognized by CEW for our efforts in sustainability. We’ve always believed that families shouldn’t have to choose between safe, plant-based products and sustainability.”
“Our Haircare in a Carton collection reflects our commitment to rethinking what responsible beauty looks like, from ingredients to packaging.”
Babo Botanicals’ Haircare in a Carton collection is the first of its kind in the mass haircare aisle to feature primarily paper carton packaging, making sustainable options more accessible to adult consumers.
The Haircare in a Carton line uses high-performance, plant-based formulas suitable for all hair types, ensuring that sustainability does not compromise product efficacy.
The products are vegan, cruelty-free, and formulated with sustainably sourced ingredients, aligning with Babo Botanicals’ commitment to clean ingredients and transparency.
The brand conducted a Lifecycle Analysis (LCA) on packaging materials, confirming that paper cartons have the lowest environmental impact from raw material extraction to end-of-use.
Meanwhile, Babo Botanicals unveiled its first-ever eco-friendly refill pouches for its Shampoo & Wash Collection late last year, marking a significant step in the brand’s sustainability journey.
These new refill pouches are designed to reduce plastic waste by up to 80% compared to traditional bottles, with each pouch made from 30% post-consumer recycled plastic, further lowering the product’s environmental footprint.
The launch aligns with Babo Botanicals’ ambitious goal to cut virgin plastic use by 75% by 2025, showcasing its commitment to responsible packaging and environmental stewardship.
Babo Botanicals, founded in 2010, is known for its gentle, plant-based personal care products and has consistently innovated in both formulation and packaging to reduce environmental impact.
