Fibertex introduces new inline printing for wetness indicators and surfactants

This development reflects a shift toward integrated hygiene production, where equipment capabilities drive innovation in functional materials and design.

DENMARK – Fibertex Personal Care, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of spunbond/spunmelt nonwoven fabrics,  has launched an innovative backside inline printing technology that revolutionizes the production of hygiene products like baby diapers and adult incontinence items.

This advancement enables precise, fully integrated application of wetness indicators directly on the backside of the nonwoven, aligning perfectly with the topsheet graphics for superior design accuracy and production efficiency.

The new system supports inline printing of wetness indicators, surfactants, and various functional coatings within a single production line, eliminating offline processes that previously complicated manufacturing.

It achieves exact registration with product graphics, allowing for graphic-based zoning, icon designs, full-pattern indicators, and simultaneous multi-material applications without disrupting downstream stability.

Traditional methods often required separate steps for functional features, reducing flexibility and efficiency, but this upgrade embeds them seamlessly into the main line.

Manufacturers gain improved liquid management through targeted hydrophilic or hydrophobic zones, enhancing overall product performance while minimizing complexity and costs.

As brands prioritize visibility and sustainability, Fibertex’s solution positions it as a leader in advanced nonwovens for precision hygiene products.

Fibertex Personal Care’s product portfolio centres on spunbond/spunmelt nonwoven fabrics and printed nonwovens, which are indispensable in the global hygiene industry.

Their offerings enable the production of baby diapers, sanitary napkins, adult incontinence products, and medical disposables, while their printing innovations add functionality and branding value.

Recently, Fibertex Personal Care achieved notable sustainability ratings from EcoVadis, as detailed in their announcement.

The company’s facilities earned Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals based on rigorous assessments of environmental, social, and ethical performance.

These ratings place the organization among the top performers globally out of thousands evaluated.

EcoVadis ranks companies across four tiers: Platinum (top 1%), Gold (top 5%), Silver (top 25%), and Bronze (top 50%).

Fibertex Personal Care Denmark and Germany secured Gold medals, ranking in the top 5% of rated companies. Silver medals went to facilities in other locations, while Bronze marked additional progress.

This marked the second EcoVadis assessment for Fibertex, highlighting sustained commitment to sustainability.

The Denmark headquarters earned top honors, placing in the top 3% out of over 90,000 companies in an earlier cycle.

These results underscore efforts in nonwovens production for personal care amid global supply chain scrutiny.
