This strengthens Reliance’s portfolio in the rapidly growing beauty and wellness market, emphasizing sustainable, narrative-driven products.

INDIA – Reliance Retail, India’s largest retailer, has completed the purchase of beauty and wellness brand Pahadi Local, including the business of Pahadi Goodness.
Founded in 2018, Pahadi Local specializes in Himalayan-inspired skincare using indigenous ingredients like Gutti Ka Tel (Apricot Kernel Oil) and traditional wellness knowledge enhanced by modern science.
The founding team will remain in key leadership roles to maintain the brand’s creative direction, product development, and philosophy.
This move aligns with Reliance Retail’s focus on scaling high-potential Indian brands through its omni-channel network of nearly 20,000 stores, digital platforms, and supply chain strengths.
Isha Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Retail Ventures, stated, “At Reliance Retail, we are focused on curating brands that combine authenticity with innovation and meaningful consumer relevance.”
“Pahadi Local’s roots in Himalayan wellness traditions and its commitment to responsible sourcing make it a compelling addition to our beauty ecosystem.”
Pahadi Local stands out in the purpose-driven beauty segment for its responsible sourcing from women-led self-help groups in Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh, supporting local livelihoods, healthcare, education, and environmental efforts.
The brand has gained recognition, including from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for promoting indigenous enterprise and transparency.
Post-acquisition, Reliance aims to expand Pahadi Local’s physical retail footprint, boost digital reach, and accelerate product innovation while preserving its authentic storytelling and purity.
The acquisition taps into India’s booming health and wellness market, valued at about USD 164.35 billion in 2025 and projected to reach USD 257.94 billion by 2034, growing at a CAGR of 5.14%according to IMARC.
Pahadi Local offers a curated range of Himalayan-inspired beauty and wellness products, with a strong focus on cold-pressed oils such as apricot kernel and walnut oil for skin and hair nourishment.
Their portfolio also includes natural serums and body care formulations that emphasize slow beauty, sustainability, and chemical-free self-care.
Rooted in traditional practices, the brand highlights authentic sourcing from Himalayan communities while promoting mindful consumption and holistic wellness.
This move comes after Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL) recently secured global rights to a portfolio of renowned international personal care brands, including Brylcreem, Toni & Guy, Badedas, and Matey.
This move excludes a few specified territories as part of its ambitious expansion into the rapidly expanding beauty and grooming sectors, both in India and abroad.
