This collaboration emphasizes sustainable packaging that honors the luxury house’s artisanal legacy while prioritizing recyclability and premium aesthetics.

UK – DS Smith, a British multinational packaging business, has partnered with Lalique Beauty to deliver eco-friendly folding boxes and protective inserts for the launch of the brand’s new Tales of Light home fragrance collection.
Lalique Beauty, a division of the Lalique Group, selected DS Smith to design and produce the secondary packaging for its Tales of Light line, which includes six scented candles, L’Escapade, L’Atelier, La Comédie, La Demeure, La Muse, and La Verrerie, alongside three diffusers.
A Lalique Beauty representative highlighted the collection’s intent to fuse the maison’s signature interplay of light, materials, and craftsmanship with forward-thinking environmental practices.
Meanwhile, Marie Labouret, Sales and Marketing Director at DS Smith Packaging Consumer France, praised the design, stating, “The packaging solution is beautiful, and the exterior design is intended to evoke the elegance of the Art Deco era.”
“We used our fully sustainable corrugated cardboard materials, and approached it as we always do, with attention to detail.”
The Tales of Light packaging evokes timeless luxury, drawing from the iconic furnace shapes at Lalique’s historic crystal facility in Wingen-sur-Moder, France, and manufactured at the brand’s Ury production site.
The folding boxes employ graphic board optimized for offset printing and selective varnishing, enhanced by a specialized graining process that mimics the soft, velvety texture of satin-finished crystal—a hallmark of Lalique’s heritage.
The exterior prominently showcases the collection’s new logo: swallows, a motif cherished by founder René Lalique, breaking free from a historic circle to symbolize a fresh chapter for the brand.
This blend of protective functionality, high-end finishes like embossing and subtle textures, and eco-conscious materials positions the packaging as both a functional safeguard and an extension of the product’s opulent storytelling.
At the core of this initiative is DS Smith’s commitment to fiber-based, circular economy solutions, using 100% recyclable FSC-certified materials that minimize environmental impact without compromising on luxury appeal.
The design aligns with rising demands in the personal care sector for premium, planet-friendly packaging, as seen in DS Smith’s recent fiber innovations for other industries like automotive and beverages.
The Tales of Light collection is slated for global availability in Lalique Beauty’s online stores and boutiques starting May 2026, underscoring the strategic timing of this sustainable packaging debut.
