Reliance Retail acquires haircare brand Anomaly

The acquisition underscores Reliance Retail’s ambition to become a multi‑brand, omnichannel beauty and lifestyle platform.

INDIA – Reliance Retail has fully acquired Anomaly, the global haircare brand founded by actor and entrepreneur Priyanka Chopra Jonas, deepening its presence in beauty and personal‑care.

The deal brings all of Anomaly’s trademarks, brand assets and digital properties under Reliance Retail, though the financial terms have not been disclosed.

Founded in 2021, Anomaly is positioned as a clean, vegan, high‑performance haircare label with accessibly priced products targeting broad‑based consumers across key international markets.

The brand focuses on ethically formulated, performance‑driven solutions, aligning with rising global demand for “clean” and environmentally conscious beauty.

As part of Reliance Retail’s portfolio, Anomaly is now being positioned as a digitally native, high‑growth beauty brand that complements the group’s existing retail‑led beauty and personal‑care ecosystem.

Chopra Jonas will continue to play a central role as Creative Director for Anomaly, overseeing product innovation, brand vision and product development.

Chopra said, “This is a defining moment for Anomaly. What began as a deeply personal journey has grown into a brand with real purpose and global ambition, and Reliance Retail’s acquisition marks an exciting new chapter.”

“In my new role as creative director, I remain deeply involved in guiding Anomaly’s evolution, ensuring we continue to grow and innovate while staying true to what we set out to build from the very beginning.”

Reliance Retail plans to leverage its extensive offline retail network, spanning multiple store formats and partner outlets—as well as its omnichannel and digital commerce platforms, including its dedicated beauty platform Tira, to drive Anomaly’s growth.

A key priority is scaling the brand in India, where the group will draw on local consumer insights to develop products tailored to regional hair and scalp needs.

Beyond India, Reliance Retail aims to expand Anomaly’s footprint in North America, the United Kingdom and the Middle East, combining the brand’s existing global positioning with Reliance’s cross‑border retail and e‑commerce capabilities.

Senior executives, including Reliance Retail executive director Isha Ambani, have framed Anomaly’s clean‑formulation ethos and accessible pricing as compelling reasons to add it to the group’s growing basket of new‑age beauty brands.
