Mane invests USD 51.2M in new fragrance hub in France

The center is due to open in 2028 and will accommodate around 250 staff.

FRANCE – Mane, a French, family-owned flavor and fragrance company, is investing €45 million (USD 51.2 million) in a new Fragrance Design Center at its headquarters in Le Bar-sur-Loup.

The company marked the project’s launch by laying the foundation stone on 21 September for the 8,900 m² facility, which is scheduled to open in 2028.

The project will bring together fragrance creation, evaluation and technical development under one roof to foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and help shape future olfactory experiences.

Ms. Samantha Mane, CEO of Mane, said, “This moment represents an important milestone for our family-owned company. It reflects both our strong ties to Le Bar-sur-Loup, where Mane’s story began, and our confidence in the future of fragrance creation.”

According to the company, around 250 employees, including perfumers, evaluators, scientific experts, development teams and technical staff focused on consumer goods fragrances, will be based at the center, which will strengthen Mane’s roots in the Grasse region while serving customers across Europe, the Middle East and Africa in close coordination with its global network of fragrance creation centers.

From an environmental perspective, the building will comply with France’s RE2020 regulations and will feature rooftop photovoltaic panels with a capacity of 178 kWp to contribute to on-site renewable energy production.

Describing the foundation stone as more than the start of construction, Mane frames it as a symbol of its long-term commitment to the future of perfumery, its people and the region that has shaped its identity for generations.

This investment builds on more than 150 years of history in Grasse, where Victor Mane first transformed locally cultivated flowers and plants into perfumery raw materials, growing from a local distillery into a global flavor and fragrance group with 54 R&D centers, 31 manufacturing sites across 41 countries and a workforce exceeding 8,500.

This move comes shortly after MANE has launched an experimental garden in Grasse, France, to strengthen its connection to regional agriculture and deepen its investment in local farming.

The garden will cultivate emblematic perfume-plant species such as rose, jasmine, and tuberose, develop new plant hybrids through partnerships with scientific institutes, and serve as an active testing ground for innovative extraction techniques.
