The launch reinforces Eucerin’s presence in the medicalized, problem-solution skincare category and responds to rising consumer demand for microbiome-friendly products in acne care.

GERMANY – Beiersdorf is rolling out Eucerin DERMOPURE CLINICAL PROBIOM8 as a fresh, microbiome-informed approach to caring for acne‑prone skin, drawing on more than 20 years of research into the skin’s microbial ecosystem.
Instead of broad-spectrum antibacterial strategies, the range centres on a patented cosmetic active that delivers viable, skin‑native probiotic strains in a dormant state, then activates them within the PROBIOM8 routine to help restore and maintain a balanced skin microbiome.
The launch is positioned as both a response to a widespread consumer need and a strategic move to reinforce Eucerin’s standing in the dermatological skincare segment, where acne care remains one of the largest and most contested categories.
Burcu Andreae‑Nehlsen, Brand President for Derma & Healthcare at Beiersdorf, frames the introduction as more than a single product drop, stating, “It demonstrates how we translate long-term investments in research & development into cosmetic solutions that are relevant to our consumers.”
“For Eucerin, this innovation opens new opportunities in a market that affects millions of people worldwide and ranks among the largest skin care categories.”
The launch comes at a time when the acne‑prone skin segment expanded by roughly 8.8% between 2020 and 2025, reaching €4.6 billion (USD 5.34 billion) in retail sales in 2025, underpinned by the fact that about one in five people globally experience acne‑prone skin, with prevalence peaking at 28.3% among 16‑ to 24‑year‑olds and remaining elevated at 19.3% among adults aged 25 to 39.
At the core of the new approach is the patented active TopiC.A™, which incorporates two viable bacterial strains native to healthy‑looking skin and delivers them in a dormant form, then activates them as part of the daily regimen.
This design contrasts with many existing acne solutions that broadly target microorganisms, as TopiC.A™ instead relies on carefully selected strains that naturally occur on balanced skin to support microbiome harmony.
The technology rests on more than two decades of microbiome research, over 120 studies, an extensive patent portfolio, and additional know‑how gained through Beiersdorf’s 2022 acquisition of life‑science company S‑Biomedic, which strengthened its acne-treatment expertise.
