SUQQU, Eastman partner to revolutionize beauty packaging with recyclable resin

This collaboration marks a significant shift in luxury beauty packaging.

UK – SUQQU, the prestigious Japanese beauty brand, has partnered with Eastman,  a global speciality materials company, to introduce a sustainable packaging solution for its latest setting powder compact.

This collaboration marks a significant shift in luxury beauty packaging, as SUQQU adopts Eastman Cristal One, a recyclable copolyester that blends elegance with environmental responsibility.

Recognizing the need for a sustainable alternative to acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), SUQQU worked closely with Eastman to develop a luxury compact that meets both functional and aesthetic standards.

Cristal One not only enhances the durability and visual appeal of the packaging but also ensures compatibility with municipal recycling systems, making it a viable end-of-life solution for cosmetics brands.

Cristal One is recognized by both the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) and RecyClass, confirming its recyclability within the RIC1 (resin identification code 1) stream.

As global regulations on packaging waste continue to evolve, SUQQU has aligned its product development with the European Commission’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulations (PPWR), ensuring compliance with future sustainability standards.

Cristal One outperforms traditional PET with superior durability and a glossy black finish, enhancing SUQQU’s luxury image while supporting sustainability.

Tara Cary, Eastman’s marketing manager for Cosmetic Packaging, stated, “Consumers are increasingly expecting brands to deliver sustainable options for their beauty products, but are unwilling to give up on the elegance and design aspects of the package.”

“By adopting materials like Cristal One, brands like SUQQU meet these aesthetic demands and contribute to environmental responsibility.”

SUQQU offers a range of luxury beauty products, including skincare, makeup, and beauty tools designed to enhance natural radiance.

The brand is known for its high-performance foundations, eyeshadows, blushes, and lip products, alongside hydrating skincare essentials.

Eastman’s Q1 FY25 financial results highlight

Recently, Eastman Chemical Company reported strong financial results for the first quarter of 2025, demonstrating resilience amid global economic uncertainties.

The company achieved sales revenue of USD 2.29 billion, reflecting a 1% decline compared to the same period in 2024, primarily due to lower sales volume/mix and foreign currency exchange impacts.

However, Eastman successfully increased its EBIT to USD 302 million, up from USD 263 million in the previous year, driven by operational efficiencies and improved price-cost management.

The company’s adjusted EBIT rose to USD 311 million, marking a 13.5% increase, while adjusted earnings per diluted share climbed to USD 1.91, compared to USD 1.61 in Q1 FYA24.
