GrandBay Papeles Nacionales partners with Toscotec for advanced tissue production line in Colombia

Slated for commissioning in the second half of 2025, the new tissue line is a turnkey solution designed to manufacture high-quality bath tissue.

COLOMBIA – GrandBay Group, a leading multi-Latin paper manufacturer, has announced a strategic partnership with Italian tissue machinery supplier Toscotec to install a complete AHEAD 2.2 tissue production line at its Papeles Nacionales facility in Pereira, Colombia.

This project marks the second collaboration between the two companies, following the successful start-up of a Toscotec tissue machine at GrandBay’s site in Guatemala in 2023.

Slated for commissioning in the second half of 2025, the new tissue line is a turnkey solution designed to manufacture high-quality bath tissue and kitchen towel paper while aligning with GrandBay’s ambitious sustainability objectives.

The project reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to expand production capacity while minimizing its environmental footprint, particularly in terms of water, fibre, and energy usage.

The AHEAD 2.2 machine will feature Toscotec’s latest energy-efficient technologies, including the TT NextPress shoe press, the TT SYD Steel Yankee Dryer, and high-efficiency TT Hoods.

These components are engineered to deliver optimal drying performance and paper quality while significantly reducing energy consumption.

The system will also include a state-of-the-art stock preparation unit, full electrification, and Toscotec’s upgraded TT Brain Distributed Control System (DCS), ensuring seamless operation and monitoring across the production process.

With a sheet width of 3,600 mm and an expected annual production capacity of over 40,000 tons, the new line will enhance GrandBay’s ability to meet growing demand in Colombia and the wider Latin American market.

According to Gabriele Romanini, Sales Manager at Toscotec, “This new high-speed tissue line will deliver superior energy efficiency and product quality, solidifying GrandBay’s position as a top-tier producer in Colombia.”

This latest development strengthens Toscotec’s foothold in Latin America, a region where the company has seen rising demand for technologically advanced and resource-efficient tissue production solutions.

Past collaborations, including projects with CMPC in Chile and Kimberly-Clark in Brazil, have further demonstrated Toscotec’s commitment to supporting the region’s tissue producers with customized, sustainable solutions.

For GrandBay, this investment is part of a broader regional strategy aimed at increasing market share and improving production agility across its operations.

By partnering with Toscotec again, GrandBay is signaling its confidence in the supplier’s technology and its long-term vision of responsible growth in the tissue sector.
