Berlin Packaging expands portfolio with acquisition of Cosmei

The move brings together two organizations with a shared vision for creativity and customer-centric solutions.

ITALY – Berlin Packaging, the world’s largest Hybrid Packaging Supplier®, has announced a significant expansion of its portfolio through the acquisition of Cosmei, an Italian company renowned for its packaging solutions in the beauty and cosmetics sector.

This acquisition is part of Berlin Packaging’s ongoing investment in the beauty industry, underscoring its strategy to offer a comprehensive suite of packaging solutions across multiple sectors.

The move brings together two organizations with a shared vision for creativity and customer-centric solutions.

Marcel Schröder, President of Berlin Packaging EMEA, stated, “We are excited to expand our product portfolio and deepen our cosmetics expertise in the beauty sector through this collaboration with Cosmei, a partner renowned for both innovation and reliability.” “United by a shared commitment to innovation and sustainability, this partnership with an Italian leader will empower us to meet our customers’ needs with even greater focus and care.”

In addition to its Italian headquarters, Cosmei operates a sourcing office in Guangzhou, China, further enhancing Berlin Packaging’s global supply chain and fostering strategic relationships in the Asian market.

Berlin Packaging offers a comprehensive range of glass, plastic, and metal containers, closures, and dispensing systems across various industries, including beauty, home care, pet care, food, beverage, automotive, nutraceuticals, and pharmaceuticals.

In beauty and personal care, the company delivers specialised packaging solutions across various categories, including skincare, hair care, fragrances, bath and shower products, hygiene, and colour cosmetics.

Cosmei offers a wide range of packaging products, including custom containers for skincare, makeup, and personal care, crafted from materials like PP, PE, and PET.

The acquisition occurs at a time when the global market for beauty and cosmetics packaging materials is projected to grow from USD 55.38 billion in 2024 to USD 79.99 billion by 2032, driven by increasing consumer demand, sustainability concerns, and the rise of e-commerce.

Asia Pacific holds the largest share, while North America and Europe lead in premium and eco-friendly packaging innovation.

Brands are transitioning from plastic to biodegradable materials, including glass, paperboard, and compostable polymers, to meet environmental standards.

This growth is fueled by rising consumer demand, sustainability imperatives, and the rapid expansion of e-commerce.
