Verescence and Fives are setting a new standard for eco-conscious manufacturing in the luxury packaging sector.

FRANCE – Verescence, a global leader in glass bottle manufacturing for the Perfumery and Cosmetics industries, has joined forces with international engineering group Fives in a groundbreaking partnership aimed at transforming glass production in France.
The collaboration aims at the installation of a hybrid oxy-gas furnace at Verescence’s flagship site in Mers-les-Bains, marking a significant milestone in the company’s decarbonization strategy.
This new furnace, dubbed Prium® Eco-Flex, is designed to produce up to 150 tonnes of glass per day using a combination of electricity and oxy-gas technology.
By replacing up to 80% of fossil fuel consumption with electrical power, the system is expected to drastically reduce carbon emissions while maintaining the high-quality standards required for luxury glass packaging.
A key innovation in the project is the integration of Fives’ proprietary Heat Recovery Area (H.R.A.™) system, which captures waste heat and redirects it into the furnace.
This not only boosts energy efficiency but also contributes to further emission reductions by preheating raw materials in a lowered superstructure section.
According to Verescence CEO Thomas Riou, the initiative is part of a broader roadmap to cut CO₂ emissions by 70% by 2030.
Since 2016, the company has invested heavily in electrifying its industrial equipment, including feeders and lehrs, to support this goal.

Meanwhile, Verescene announced a significant shift in its ownership structure by welcoming Movendo Capital and Draycott, two family-owned investment holdings, as its new stakeholders.
The arrival of Movendo Capital and Draycott is expected to boost Verescence’s strategic vision, investment plans, and sustainability initiatives, including its decarbonization plans.
Verscene operates across four glass production sites and five finishing sites in Europe, North America and Asia, with a production capacity of 600 million bottles per year.
This transition marks a pivotal moment for Verescene, which has been at the forefront of glassmaking forever 130 years.
The company has built a reputation for delivering high-quality, environmentally friendly, and innovative glass solutions to some of the biggest brands in the beauty industry.
