This significant upgrade underscores Cascades’ commitment to innovation, sustainability, and maintaining competitiveness in the North American hygiene tissue sector.

USA – Cascades, a leading paper packaging and hygiene product manufacturer, has announced a USD 5.3 million investment at its Granby tissue plant in Quebec.
According to the company, this upgrade aims to increase production capacity by 20% by the end of 2025 and improve the quality of products across two strategic bathroom tissue lines.
The investment involves the addition of a new packer and a high-performance case packer for the production line that manufactures tissue for Cascades’ PRO Away-from-Home bathroom tissue.
A second production line, which produces retail bathroom tissue, has also undergone technological upgrades to boost output and enhance product quality.
Hugues Simon, President and CEO of Cascades, emphasized the importance of this move, stating, “These enhancements at our Granby tissue plant will expand our ability to meet the needs of our current and future customers.”
“This investment is part of an ongoing effort to optimize our operations and consolidate our growth path.”
The investment is part of a broader strategy to optimize operations, improve asset performance, and support the company’s sustained growth trajectory.
The Granby tissue plant, acquired by Cascades in 2011, serves residential, commercial, and institutional markets and employs over 200 people, making it one of the largest employers in the region.
This strategic investment underscores Cascades’ commitment to sustainable, value-added manufacturing and its leadership position as the top tissue producer in Canada and one of the largest in North America.
This move comes after the company recently invested over USD 3.5 million to upgrade a key converting line at its tissue manufacturing facility in Kingsey Falls, Quebec.
The investment focuses on replacing existing packaging equipment—a packager and a bagger—with advanced machinery designed to enhance the bathroom tissue packaging process and significantly boost productivity.
The upgrade is expected to increase the production rate of the converting line at the packaging stage by 8%, improving equipment availability and allowing for faster average line speeds.
The Kingsey Falls facility, operational since 1977, specializes in producing tissue paper products made from 100% recycled fibres for the residential hygiene market.
