Safic-Alcan expands in Southeast Asia with acquisition of Ingredients Plus

This acquisition is expected to provide significant growth opportunities and collaborations in the personal care sector in Malaysia and Singapore.

ASIA – Safic-Alcan, a French independent distributor of speciality chemicals, has boosted its presence in the personal care sector in Malaysia and Singapore through the strategic acquisition of Ingredients Plus, a leading and independent distributor of chemical raw materials in the Asia Pacific region.

This acquisition strengthens Safic-Alcan’s operations in the Asia-Pacific region, particularly in personal care, home care, coatings, rubber latex, food, and fragrance sectors.

This move is part of Safic-Alcan’s broader strategy to expand its specialty chemicals distribution and reinforce its personal care portfolio in Asia-Pacific, aligning with its global growth objectives.

“We are very proud to be joining the Safic-Alcan family. Their international network, technical focus, and entrepreneurial mindset make them a natural fit. We are excited about the new opportunities this will bring to our partners and customers across the region” said Mr. Chai Sien Theng, co-founder of Ingredients Plus.

Safic-Alcan operates through 38 offices worldwide, including Europe, North America, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa.

Its product portfolio spans a wide range of industries, including personal care, pharmaceuticals, coatings, rubber, thermoplastics, and food ingredients.

In personal care, the company offers ingredients including actives, emulsifiers, emollients, surfactants, and fragrance components tailored for skin, hair, and hygiene formulations. In the home care sector, they supply surfactants, chelating agents, enzymes, and eco-friendly additives designed for cleaning, laundry, and air care applications.

Ingredients Plus’s established network in Malaysia and Singapore provides Safic-Alcan enhanced access and capabilities within these markets, complementing their existing global footprint.

Similarly, Ingredients Plus offers a diverse portfolio of raw materials across several sectors, with a strong emphasis on personal care, home care, coatings, rubber latex, industrial applications, food ingredients, and fragrance solutions.

In the personal and home care space, their offerings include surfactants, emulsifiers, actives, preservatives, and fragrance components—designed to support formulation needs in skincare, haircare, hygiene, and cleaning products.

This move follows Safic-Alcan’s recent acquisition of a majority stake in Avees Biocos Private Limited, a prominent distributor of personal care chemicals based in India.

This strategic acquisition expands Safic-Alcan’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region and strengthens its global personal care footprint across North America, South America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Avees Biocos specializes in sourcing advanced technology ingredients and developing unique cosmetic formulations, offering a range of products such as biopolymers, preservatives, emollients, sensory modifiers, UV filters, active ingredients for skin and hair care, emulsifiers, fragrances, and functional polymers.

The company also operates a state-of-the-art innovation centre to provide customised formulation solutions.
