IFF and Reservas Votorantim partner to revolutionize perfumery and cosmetics with new ingredients

USA – International Flavours & Fragrances (IFF) has announced a significant partnership with Reservas Votorantim, the green economy division of Brazilian investment firm Votorantim SA, aimed at revolutionizing perfumery and cosmetics through sustainable ingredient innovation sourced from Brazil’s Atlantic Forest.
This collaboration grants IFF and its subsidiary, LMR Naturals, exclusive access to the native flora of Legado das Águas, the largest private Atlantic Forest reserve in Brazil, spanning 31,000 hectares.
IFF is set to establish a new research laboratory within Reservas Votorantim’s site in the heart of Legado das Águas to study and analyze nearly 1,000 plant species.
The lab will bring together IFF scientists, including perfumers and flavorists, alongside LMR’s botanists and agronomists, to develop new and unique extracts for fragrance and cosmetic products.
This initiative aligns with growing consumer demand for natural and sustainably sourced ingredients while supporting biodiversity-driven innovation.
Through this partnership, IFF aims to sustainably source fresh and inspiring ingredients from a highly ecologically unique biome, enhancing the appreciation and conservation of the Atlantic Forest.
Reservas Votorantim brings expertise in land stewardship and crop science, ensuring that the collaboration strikes a balance between commercial innovation and conservation goals.
In addition, the partnership includes community outreach programs to promote best practices in conservation and native plant cultivation.
