IFF invests USD 11.8M in LMR Naturals site expansion to boost sustainable ingredient innovation

This investment aligns with IFF’s sustainability goals and its vision to empower perfumers and flavorists worldwide by delivering high-performing, exceptional natural signatures that consumers trust.

USA – International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) has officially unveiled the expanded LMR Naturals facility in Grasse, reflecting a €10 million (USD 11.76 million) investment that increases the site’s total area by 75 percent to 4,687 square meters.

This expansion features a cutting-edge pilot hall designed to accelerate the development of new natural ingredients.

Adjacent to the facility, a new experimental field grants direct access to plant materials, enabling more intensive botanical research and accelerating innovation in natural ingredients.

With the expansion, more than 30 research and development experts now collaborate under one roof, strengthening IFF’s ability to satisfy the growing global demand for natural ingredients that are traceable, sustainable, and of superior quality.

LMR Naturals, initially established in 1983 and acquired by IFF in 2000, remains a cornerstone of IFF’s portfolio, enabling perfumers worldwide to craft unique, memorable fragrances alongside ingredients for cosmetics, home care, and taste applications.

The enhanced site empowers IFF to introduce four to six new products annually, with sustainability integrated into its operations, as demonstrated by dual certifications, including For Life and Zero Waste to Landfill, and a waste valorization rate exceeding 98 percent.

Since 2020, LMR Naturals has launched 23 innovative ingredients and earned multiple industry awards for its commitment to purity, environmental respect, and ethical sourcing.

Annually, the facility processes 85,000 tons of biomass, producing 2,000 tons of extracts from over 850 ingredients derived from 130 botanical families.

This investment reaffirms IFF’s strategic commitment to Grasse as a global hub for natural ingredient innovation.

It solidifies its leadership in developing sustainable, high-quality natural products within the fragrance and broader personal care markets.

The upgraded facility supports IFF’s commitment to sustainability, featuring dual ISO certifications (For Life and Zero Waste to Landfill) and achieving a waste valorization rate of at least 98%.

This strategic enhancement underscores IFF’s drive to shape the future of natural ingredient development by deepening its operational and innovation roots in Grasse, serving a growing global market driven by demand for traceability, quality, and ecological responsibility.
