CHINA – Givaudan has marked a key milestone by breaking ground on a new, state-of-the-art facility in Guangzhou, China, marking a significant expansion for its scented product capabilities in one of the world’s fastest-growing markets.
This investment aims to enhance the company’s ability to serve both local and regional customers in one of the world’s fastest-growing fragrance markets.
The new 30,000-square-meter site will include a creative centre designed to bring together evaluation, marketing, sales, and application teams, along with perfumers and perfumery analysts, fostering close collaboration to boost innovation.
In addition, the facility will feature a highly automated production site to support the rapid and fragmented growth of Givaudan’s fragrance business across China.
This development underscores Givaudan’s strong commitment to sustainable growth and reflects the company’s dedication to upholding environmental, health, and safety standards, thereby providing a safe and supportive work environment.
Approximately 150 employees currently working at the existing Guangzhou site are expected to relocate to this new facility within the next two years.
Yaling Li, Head of Fragrances China & Korea, stated, “With this strategic investment, we are bringing our customers in China even closer to the heart of Givaudan’s creativity and expertise.”
“Powered by two creative centres in Shanghai and Guangzhou as well as two production sites in Changzhou and Guangzhou, our fragrance team will have an unparalleled footprint and capability in China to serve our customers and better capture the growth opportunities of this dynamic market.”
This groundbreaking reinforces Givaudan’s 2030 strategy to combine local insight with global excellence, ensuring inspiring solutions for customers while advancing a sustainable and innovative future in China.
Givaudan to Acquire US Fragrance House Belle Aire Creations
Givaudan has announced plans to acquire Belle Aire Creations, a well-established US fragrance house known for its creativity and strong regional customer connections.
Founded in 1982 by three entrepreneurs from Illinois—Don Conover Sr., a perfumery expert, and brothers Richard and Charles David—Belle Aire Creations was built with a vision to provide high-quality fragrance development with agility.
Over the years, Belle Aire Creations has invested heavily in talent, technology, and resources, growing into a major player in the fragrance industry with a reputation for innovation and customer satisfaction.
Maurizio Volpi, President of Fragrance & Beauty at Givaudan, stated that Belle Aire Creations will enhance its offering for local and regional North American customers by combining Givaudan’s global creative resources with Belle Aire’s deep regional expertise, thereby unlocking significant growth potential.
Financially, while deal terms remain undisclosed, Belle Aire Creations contributed approximately CHF 65 million in incremental sales on a proforma basis to Givaudan in 2024.
The transaction, expected to close by late 2025 or early 2026, will be funded from Givaudan’s existing resources.
