EUROPE – Caldic has secured an exclusive partnership deal to distribute AmphiStar’s innovative upcycled biosurfactants across Europe, marking a significant step in zero-waste innovation for the personal care industry.
This collaboration leverages AmphiStar’s expertise in producing sustainable, upcycled personal care ingredients derived from bio-based sources that would otherwise be considered waste.
The deal positions Caldic as a central player in transforming the European personal care market by offering these eco-friendly biosurfactants that embody circular economy principles, enhancing ingredient sustainability, and reducing environmental impact.
Michel Dewael, Commercial Director, Caldic Europe, stated, “By partnering with AmphiStar, we are introducing a next-generation solution to our customers; high-performance biosurfactants created through advanced upcycling of side streams.”

By joining forces, both companies aim to accelerate the adoption of zero-waste solutions and drive the personal care sector toward greater sustainability through cutting-edge ingredient innovation and supply chain integration.
This partnership represents a pivotal commitment to reducing waste and promoting bio-based ingredient usage in European cosmetics and personal care formulations, aligning with growing regulatory and consumer demand for greener products and practices.
Amphistar recently partnered with Kensing, an American surfactant producer, to strengthen the North American personal care market with sustainable biosurfactants.
This collaboration will introduce next-generation biosurfactants, derived from 100% upcycled microbial fermentation, marking a significant step toward environmentally responsible ingredient sourcing.
Kensing is set to leverage its deep surfactant expertise and established market access to facilitate the adoption of these sustainable solutions across the Personal Care and Home, Industrial & Institutional (HI&I) industries.
The biosurfactants, which serve as emulsifiers and co-surfactants, will be integrated into formulations for body lotions, creams, shampoos, body washes, and makeup removers, offering mild yet effective alternatives to conventional surfactants.
In addition to the AmphiStar and Kensing, will co-develop a library of 80+ sustainable biosurfactants, expanding their designer molecule platform for applications in personal care, agrochemicals, and HI&I markets.
