Givaudan extends biodegradable fragrance encapsulation with new laundry serum
The launch underscores Givaudan’s role as a trusted partner for leading global brands seeking next-generation, environmentally friendly fragrance solutions.
SWITZERLAND – Givaudan has expanded its innovative PlanetCaps™ technology, extending its biodegradable fragrance encapsulation from fabric care into the personal care sector, and unveiled a new integrated product, the IRRESISTIBLE Laundry Serum.
PlanetCaps™ is recognized as the first high-performing biodegradable fragrance encapsulation solution on the market, initially launched in December 2021, designed to deliver long-lasting fragrance performance without microplastics and fully compliant with ECHA regulations.
Serving personal care applications such as hair and body care, this new extension builds on Givaudan’s two decades of expertise in fragrance encapsulation, offering around twenty different scent profiles for tailored consumer experiences.
To meet growing global demand, Givaudan plans to increase production capacity at its Singapore facility in early 2026.
The IRRESISTIBLE Laundry Serum is a pioneering, next-generation fabric care solution, exclusive to fragrance capsules. It features a creamy, patent-pending formula with an exceptional 40% fragrance load, paired with advanced biodegradable microcapsules.
According to the company, this product boosts fabric care with long-lasting freshness and superior sensory performance, maintaining an impactful scent “from wash to wardrobe” for up to a year, providing consumers a lasting “WOW effect.”
This dual innovation marks a major milestone in Givaudan’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, offering biodegradable, high-performance fragrance delivery systems worldwide for personal and fabric care.
These products align with Givaudan’s broader mission to create products that enhance consumer experiences while driving long-term, nature-positive growth in the fragrance and beauty sectors.
In 2024, Givaudan reported CHF 7.4 billion in sales, with sustainability deeply embedded in its scientific and product development ethos.
Givaudan’s PlanetCaps™ technology is manufactured at the Vernier, Switzerland, facility and will be expanded to Singapore and Mexico to support worldwide distribution.
In a similar move, Clariant recently introduced TexCare One Terra, a pioneering multifunctional polymer designed to enhance high-concentrate liquid laundry products, especially laundry capsules.
This next-generation polymer is engineered for superior cleaning performance even at low temperatures and in reduced dosages, making it ideal for the compact, ultra-concentrated formulations gaining traction in the laundry market.
According to Clariant, TexCare One Terra boasts a unique chemical structure that ensures excellent compatibility with concentrated capsule formulations.
It combines multiple benefits in a single ingredient: enhanced cleaning efficacy, detergency boost, and whiteness maintenance.
The polymer is highly efficient, requiring very low usage levels to deliver significant performance gains, which enables manufacturers to reduce capsule size without sacrificing cleaning power, even in short or cold wash cycles.
