Church & Dwight invests USD 28M to expand detergent production in Ohio

This project illustrates effective collaboration between the public and private sectors to sustain and grow manufacturing operations in the state.

USA – Church & Dwight, in partnership with JobsOhio, has announced a significant USD 28 million expansion at its manufacturing facility in Old Fort, Seneca County, Ohio.

This investment is focused on producing unit-dose detergent power paks, a new product line within Church & Dwight’s long-standing portfolio of personal care, household, and speciality products.

The expansion is projected to create at least 40 new jobs at the facility, underlining the company’s confidence in the region’s skilled manufacturing workforce and its commitment to growth in Northwest Ohio.

This move continues Church & Dwight’s history of investment and expansion in Seneca County, where the company already employs over 300 people.

The plant manager, David Johnston, highlighted the valuable collaboration among economic development partners, including the Seneca County Collaborative, the Regional Growth Partnership, and JobsOhio, which facilitated the advancement of this project.

This partnership exemplifies the strong support networks available in Ohio for manufacturing enterprises, helping companies like Church & Dwight thrive and innovate.

The production of the new detergent line is expected to commence in early 2027.

JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef stated, “Church & Dwight’s continued investment in Seneca County underscores the strength of Northwest Ohio’s manufacturing workforce and the confidence global brands have in Ohio’s ability to deliver quality, reliability and innovation.”

Seneca County officials, including County Commissioner Bill Frankart, expressed pride in the company’s decision to reinvest locally, which not only strengthens the local economy but also provides new employment opportunities for residents.

Meanwhile, Church & Dwight recently entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Touchland brand, the fastest-growing hand sanitiser brand in the US, for USD 700 million.

AS part of the deal, an additional payment of up to USD 180 million may be made based on Touchland’s net sales performance in 2025, bringing the potential total acquisition price to USD 880 million.

According to the company, the deal is anticipated to be finalized in the second quarter.
