Dove unveils its first refillable anti-perspirant in major push to reduce plastic waste

USA – Dove has introduced its pioneering refillable antiperspirant deodorant stick, specifically the 72hr Original variant, in response to surging consumer demand for eco-friendly personal care solutions.
This innovative product features a 35ml refill pack designed exclusively for use with a reusable case from the brand’s Starter Kit, enabling users to replace only the deodorant component while minimizing plastic waste through repeated refills.
Refills come in nine fine-fragrance-inspired variants: starter kits offer Original, Violet & Tonka Bean, and Peony & Pineapple, while standalone refills add Macadamia & Coconut, White Flower & Heliotrope (Superdrug exclusive), and Lily & Green Lime (Boots exclusive).
Chris Barron, general manager for Unilever’s personal care business in UK&I, stated, “This launch also builds on our continued efforts to grow the Wild brand, which has resonated with consumers through its natural deodorant proposition, sustainability credentials and direct-to-consumer engagement.”

The formula delivers up to 72 hours of sweat and odour protection, gliding smoothly onto the skin with an anti-white mark technology and a dermatologically tested, non-irritating composition that’s gentle on underarms.
The deodorant boasts Dove’s signature scent—a delicate blend of rose and jasmine that evolves into a revitalizing citrus zest—keeping users feeling fresh throughout the day.
Key ingredients include PPG-14 Butyl Ether, Stearyl Alcohol, C15-19 Alkane, Aluminium Sesquichlorohydrate for antiperspirant action, and conditioning agents like Isopropyl Palmitate, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, and Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, alongside a fragrance mix featuring Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Citronellol, and others.
Its anti-stain formula prevents white marks on clothing, aligning with modern sustainability goals by promoting reuse over single-use packaging.
According to the brand, to apply, ensure underarms are dry, then swipe the stick evenly across the skin, avoiding irritated or damaged areas; discontinue if irritation occurs.
To refill, twist the base left to rewind fully, press the Dove buttons to separate the case, insert the new refill, and twist right to expose the stick for immediate use, creating a seamless, waste-free routine.
