This move significantly expands Clorox’s presence in the health and hygiene sector.

USA – Clorox has completed its acquisition of GOJO Industries, the maker of the Purell hand‑sanitizer brand, in a USD 2.25 billion cash deal.
The transaction, first announced in January 2026 and closed in early April 2026, values GOJO at about USD 2.25 billion with an estimated net purchase price of around USD 1.92 billion after expected tax benefits, positioning Purell as a central growth engine within Clorox’s portfolio.
Strategically, the move integrates GOJO’s leading hand‑hygiene and skin‑care platforms with Clorox’s existing cleaning, disinfecting, and wellness brands, aiming to create a more cohesive “cleaner and healthier” ecosystem for consumers and institutions alike.
Linda Rendle, chair and CEO of The Clorox Company, said, “GOJO has incredible strength in the marketplace, and we are looking forward to coming together to grow the business thoughtfully.”
“We see a strong opportunity ahead as we bring together our leading brands, talented organizations and complementary capabilities to deliver best-in-class health and hygiene solutions to consumers and institutional end users alike.”
Operationally, GOJO’s business will now operate under the name Clorox Purell and will remain headquartered in Ohio, with key manufacturing and R&D facilities in Ashland, Cuyahoga Falls, and Wooster continuing to run as part of the combined organization.
Carey Jaros, GOJO’s former president and CEO, will lead the Clorox Purell unit, signalling leadership continuity while folding GOJO’s vertically integrated manufacturing, dispensing technology, and service networks into Clorox’s global scale.
The deal strengthens Clorox’s position in both retail and institutional channels, adding Purell’s strong B2B footprint, dispensers, service contracts, and refills to Clorox’s consumer‑brand muscle and distribution network.
This acquisition underscores a broader trend of consolidation in health‑and‑hygiene FMCG, as Clorox leans into its “Ignite” strategy to scale its fastest‑growing segment: health and wellness.
It also sets up multiple angles for follow‑up coverage, including integration of GOJO’s dispenser systems into broader Clorox cleaning solutions, potential co‑branded or private‑label launches in emerging markets, and how Clorox leverages GOJO’s existing institutional installed base to expand into facility‑services and professional supply contracts.
Currently, the global health and hygiene market is valued at around USD 659 billion in 2026, with steady growth projected to reach nearly USD 787 billion by 2030.
It is expanding at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of about 4.4–4.5%, according to The Business Research Company.
