The strategy capitalizes on trade frameworks like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to enhance cross-border distribution.

GHANA – Haco Industries plans to launch operations in Ghana by the end of April 2026 to spearhead its West African expansion.
This move marks a strategic entry into the region through a lean joint venture model with an undisclosed local Ghanaian partner.
The collaboration leverages the Ghanaian firm’s existing production capacity and equipment, allowing Haco to supply raw materials, primarily manufactured in Kenya, for local assembly and distribution.
Haco Managing Director Mary-Ann Musangi emphasized the efficiency of this approach, noting it minimizes capital expenditure on new factories while enabling rapid market penetration and economic scalability.
Additional distribution partners will handle product rollout, aligning with Haco’s “Africa-wide vision” focused on sustainability and backward integration using African raw materials.
Beyond Ghana, Haco eyes further West African growth, targeting Nigeria and Senegal in the next phase.
This builds on its established clusters in Eastern (Kenya, Tanzania, South Sudan), Central (Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Eastern DRC), and Southern Africa (Zambia, Malawi, Western DRC), positioning the company as a Pan-African FMCG leader.
Currently, according to Strategy Helix Group, Ghana’s personal care and home care markets are mid-sized but growing steadily, with personal care projected to expand at nearly 6% CAGR through 2030 and home care at about 5.9% CAGR.
Haco Industries has a five-decade legacy in innovation and shared growth within personal care, household, and food products.
Musangi’s leadership underscores a partner-led model for speed and control, aligning with parallel efforts such as potential IPOs or investor talks for succession planning.
Haco’s Ghana entry exemplifies efficient regional scaling in the FMCG sector, prioritizing local partnerships, low-capex growth, and continental integration amid rising West African demand.
