ISSA unveils ISSA Academy to elevate cleaning and facility learning

The academy offers scalable solutions to standardize training, reduce onboarding time, and improve retention by giving staff a visible progression route within the organization.

USA – ISSA, the Association for Cleaning and Facility Solutions, has officially launched the ISSA Academy, a reimagined online learning platform designed to streamline career advancement for cleaning and facility professionals.

The institution is replacing ad hoc course selection with structured, industry-specific career pathways that guide learners from foundational skills to advanced leadership roles.

The initiative positions workforce training, professional development, and credentialing as more accessible, engaging, and impactful, offering flexible learning paths, recognized certifications, and an intuitive experience tailored to the cleaning and facility solutions sector.

By organizing education around clearly defined Career Pathways, ISSA aims to provide a step-by-step roadmap that builds relevant competencies in sequence, from entry-level knowledge through supervisory and management capabilities. .

This structure is intended to help both individuals planning their progression and organizations designing scalable training programs for teams.

ISSA Executive Director Kim Althoff, stated, “With ISSA Academy, we are creating a clearer roadmap for professional growth while giving organizations flexible tools to develop their people.”

“Whether someone is beginning a career in the industry, building specialized expertise, or preparing for a leadership role, we want them to be able to see what comes next and have the education to help them get there.”

ISSA Academy introduces onboarding programs, career pathway bundles, unlimited team training subscriptions, and enterprise learning options to meet organizations at different stages of workforce development.

Users can track learning progress and earned credentials within the platform, enabling clearer visibility of skill acquisition and certification status for employees and managers. The platform is built specifically for the cleaning and facility solutions industry, with content designed to translate complex operational and technical topics into accessible, practically relevant learning for frontline staff, supervisors, and facility leaders.

Central to the Academy’s value proposition is its focus on recognized certifications and industry credentials that validate skills and support mobility within the sector.

These pathways align with broader ISSA education offerings, including certification programs, online courses, and workshops that emphasize leadership, safety, and sustainability, areas increasingly critical as facilities adopt smarter technologies and higher performance standards.

The Academy seeks to make professional development feel less like navigating a catalog and more like following a clear progression toward defined roles and responsibilities.

The launch of ISSA Academy complements other recent ISSA workforce initiatives, notably the U.S. Department of Labor–approved Cleaning Technician Registered Apprenticeship Program, which creates a formal, nationally recognized route into the profession combining on-the-job learning with standardized curriculum and certifications.
