The ingredient combines bearberry leaf extract with a liposomal delivery system.

SWITZERLAND – Lipoid Kosmetik, a leading manufacturer of natural raw materials for the cosmetics and personal care industry, has introduced Depigmentation Factor, a cosmetic active developed to help lessen the appearance of pigmentation and dark spots while remaining gentle on skin.
The launch responds to continued consumer interest in products that visibly improve skin tone while using natural ingredients considered safe and comfortable for the skin, according to Lipoid Kosmetik.
Depigmentation Factor is approved by COSMOS and NATRUE and meets their standards for natural cosmetics.
The company highlights four intended benefits: reducing the appearance of pigmentation and dark spots, promoting a brighter and more even complexion, boosting hydration and skin comfort, and supporting comfortable everyday use.
Depigmentation Factor contains full-spectrum bearberry leaf extract with naturally occurring β-arbutin, polyphenols, flavonoids, and tannins.
According to Lipoid Kosmetik, β-arbutin can help limit melanin production by inhibiting tyrosinase, an enzyme involved in pigmentation.
The extract’s other plant compounds provide antioxidant activity, helping counter oxidative factors that can contribute to pigmentation.
The active also incorporates a liposomal delivery system made with unsaturated phospholipids.
According to the company, these phospholipids help deliver the ingredient into the epidermis while providing skin-conditioning benefits. Lipoid Kosmetik says it assessed the product’s performance in both in vitro and in vivo studies.
The launch comes as the global skin-lightening market faces ongoing safety concerns. In some regions, skin-lightening products may contain harmful ingredients, prompting cosmetic companies to develop alternatives for uneven skin tone that aim to avoid related risks.
Last year, Beiersdorf brought its dermatological skincare brand Eucerin to Nigeria, responding to concerns about the widespread use of harmful skin-bleaching products in West Africa.
The launch took place amid growing public-health concerns and increased regulatory attention to unregulated lightening creams.
Amorepacific has also been exploring safer approaches to pigmentation care. The company recently identified a microbiome-derived culture extract that targets both melanin production and pigment already accumulated in the skin.
