In Thailand, the Catalite tie‑up therefore functions both as a regional expansion play and as a lever to improve supply‑chain resilience and pricing flexibility for its microbial protection portfolio.

THAILAND – Ashland has struck a distribution agreement with Catalite, an affiliate of the Azelis Group NV, to expand its microbial protection solutions across Thailand, effective 1 April 2026.
The deal positions Catalite as Ashland’s go‑to distribution partner for antimicrobial and microbiome‑friendly ingredients in the Thai skin, hair, oral, and home‑care markets, in line with the region’s push for more sustainable, safe, and innovative formulations.
Under the agreement, Catalite will distribute a broad range of Ashland’s microbial protection technologies, including multifunctional ingredients that combine solubilizing, hydrating, “well-ageing,” and antimicrobial stability functions in finished products.
The portfolio also covers eco‑conscious solutions that are biodegradable, naturally sourced, or aligned with key eco‑certifications, reflecting regulatory and consumer pressure for cleaner‑label preservative systems.
The arrangement encompasses both “progressive” and “classic” preservative segments: progressive preservatives are based on aromatic alcohols and organic acids, with broad global market approval and flexible formulation uses, while classic preservatives are positioned as strong, synergistic options across a wide spectrum of personal care and household products.
Sung Hong, general manager, personal care and household, Rest of Asia, Ashland, stated, “Azelis and Catalite’s profound market insight and deeply cultivated clients’ foundation make them the ideal catalyst for our mutual sustainable growth.”
“This new chapter of cooperation will promote the broader applications of Ashland’s cutting-edge science, fortify supply chain resilience, and empower Thai manufacturers with sustainable innovations that elevate the beauty industry and create endless possibilities.”
Catalite will additionally handle deodorizing agents designed to control odour-causing bacteria at low use levels while preserving the skin’s natural microbiome and barrier balance.
A stated pillar of the partnership is “microbiological quality management,” an integrated approach to safeguarding cosmetic and home‑care product integrity while accounting for environmental and economic factors across the supply chain.
For Catalite, the move strengthens its value‑add proposition by combining Ashland’s antimicrobial know‑how with its own local application expertise, enabling customers to develop safer, more effective, and trend‑responsive personal and home‑care products amid evolving regulatory and consumer demands.
This agreement also sits within a wider pattern of Ashland renegotiating and rationalizing distribution channels (for example, recent US‑focused deals with IMCD and food‑vertical partnerships with Univar) to mitigate cost pressures and market volatility, including those linked to geopolitical tensions such as the Iran war‑related disruptions to its Life Sciences and Intermediates businesses.
