Univar Solutions and American Distilling partners to supply Natural Witch Hazel Portfolio to EMEA
The partnership is framed as a way to enhance service to regional customers that require both performance and compliance-ready ingredients across personal care, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical product categories.
EMEA – Univar Solutions has expanded its distribution partnership with American Distilling, under its Ingredients + Specialties division, to strengthen its botanical ingredients portfolio in EMEA, with a particular focus on specialty witch hazel for beauty, personal care, and pharmaceutical applications.
Under the new agreement, Univar Solutions will distribute American Distilling’s portfolio of natural specialty ingredients, positioning witch hazel as a core botanical for formulators seeking plant-derived solutions.
The deal covers traditional witch hazel, including alcohol‑free formats and customizable grades, for use in personal care, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical formulations across selected markets in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).
Nick Powell, CEO of Ingredients + Specialties from Univar Solutions, said the collaboration in EMEA reinforces the Company’s role as a leading and trusted distributor for this range while broadening its botanical extracts offering.
He noted that Univar Solutions has supported these specialty ingredients in North America for many years and, with a strong regional supply chain and experienced technical teams now in place, can provide local inventory and shorter lead times for customers.
Witch hazel is described as a versatile botanical extract suitable for facial care, cleansers, body washes, hair care, eye gels, and personal hygiene products.
Sourced from Hamamelis native to Northeastern US woodlands, it delivers natural astringent, anti‑inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties.
Positioned as a gentle, plant‑based alternative to synthetic astringents, witch hazel can be used in a broad variety of formats, including toners, moisturizers, pads, ointments, creams, sprays, and therapeutic products, to boost natural content while supporting overall product performance.
The addition of American Distilling’s portfolio further strengthens Univar Solutions’ position as a key distributor of advanced ingredients for brands developing the next wave of beauty, personal care, and pharmaceutical products.
According to the companies, the customers can tap into the Company’s end‑to‑end support, including formulation expertise, sophisticated laboratory infrastructure, extensive market intelligence, and a wide‑reaching logistics platform.
They also gain access to Univar Solutions’ global Solution Center in Essen, Germany, which delivers regional support for formulation design, product development, and scale‑up.
