MEXICO – Aora México, a Mexico-based plastic-free beauty brand, has collaborated with RePurpose Global to fund the recovery of plastic pollution through its initiative to tackle the impact of cosmetic packaging pollution.
The Buy 1, Remove 9X initiative will remove nine times the plastic pollution from the environment for every Aora product sold.
Aora México is now certified as a “plastic-negative” company by RePurpose Global, a plastic action platform that collaborates with brands, consumers, and policymakers to combat the plastic waste crisis.
Aora said, “Despite advances in alternative materials, 95% of beauty packaging is made from plastic.’’
Aora Mexico asserts that its partnership with RePurpose is one of a larger mission to revolutionize beauty packaging with 100% plastic-free design.
Nour Tayara, co-founder of Aora, said, “While our oceans and waterways continue to choke on plastic pollution, we are left with no choice but to refuse to use plastic in the first place.’’
“ It is our purpose as a brand to show the world that beauty doesn’t have to come with a compromise to packaging.”
Aora uses materials like tin, aluminium, and wood as alternatives to plastic because they are durable and recyclable.
Aditya Siroya, co-founder and chief impact officer of RePurpose Global, said, “It is heartening to see Aora push the boundaries on tackling the plastic waste problem by being a 100% plastic-free beauty brand.”
“ They go above and beyond plastic-free by funding verified plastic recovery through rePurpose Global.’’
Aditya also hopes that Aora’s commitment will encourage more brands to take responsibility for the plastic they generate.
This is even more critical now that the Global Plastics Treaty has not been ratified.
Similarly, Arcade Beauty, a global leader in beauty packaging solutions, launched its new 80% Paper Packette, a recycle-ready, mono-dose sachet designed to replace plastic or foil packaging for sampling skincare, haircare, and colour cosmetics.
