Clariant unveils Nipaguard SCE Vita for sustainable cosmetic preservation

SWITZERLAND – Clariant, a Swiss multinational speciality chemical company, has recently launched Nipaguard SCE Vita, a fully naturally derived preservation blend designed for the cosmetics industry.

Nipaguard SCE Vita is formulated with 100% renewable Sorbitan Caprylate, synergistically combined with naturally derived benzoic acid, offering comprehensive protection against microbial contamination.

This ensures the safety and longevity of personal care products while aligning with the increasing demand for eco-friendly and sustainable beauty solutions.

With a 100% Renewable Carbon Index (RCI), Nipaguard SCE Vita aligns with the growing demand for eco-friendly and sustainable beauty solutions.

The product is effective at low concentrations, making it easy to incorporate into a wide range of cosmetic formulations without compromising performance.

According to the testing conducted by Clariant, the new formula has been validated to meet the highest industry standards, ensuring that formulators can trust its effectiveness to deliver results comparable to traditional preservatives.

Karolina Scierski, Clariant’s Portfolio Manager for Preservation, stated, “At Clariant, we are proud to be a market leader in solutions for the preservation of cosmetics.”

“Nipaguard SCE Vita contains no controversial preservatives and marks a significant step in our broader commitment to address the needs of health- and sustainability- conscious consumers and brands at the same time as creating value for customers with renewable-carbon, high-performance products.”

The launch of Nipaguard SCE Vita comes when consumers are increasingly conscious of the ingredients in their personal care products and their environmental impact.

Clariant operates through three main business units, namely, care chemicals, adsorbents and additives and catalysts.

The company has developed several innovative products in its Care Chemicals segment, focusing on sustainability and performance.

The products include Vita range, glucoPure, Aristocare Smart and TexCare Polymers.

In addition to its preservation solutions, Lucas Meyer Cosmetics by Clariant  recently introduced Melicica, a natural skin repair ingredient that targets scarring.

The product is inspired by the traditional healing properties of honey.

Melicica is an extract derived from Jelly Bush honey, commonly known as Australian Manuka honey, which is highly valued for its distinctive biochemical makeup and healing properties.

The company developed Melicica, a convenient and soothing skin repair solution, to meet the critical need for a better alternative to existing treatments.
