Reckitt recalls Woolite Delicates detergent over bacterial contamination risk

Reckitt has recalled specific Woolite Delicates detergent bottles sold on Amazon due to potential bacterial contamination risks for vulnerable individuals.

USA – Reckitt, a British multinational consumer goods company, has issued a recall for Woolite Delicates Detergents in collaboration with the Consumer Product Safety Commission over concerns about potential bacterial contamination.

The recall states that the products may contain Pseudomonas bacteria, including Pseudomonas oleovorans, a common environmental microorganism found in soil and water.

According to the recall, the products can contain Pseudomonas species bacteria, including Pseudomonas oleovorans, an environmental organism found widely in soil and water.

Individuals with weakened immune systems or those using external medical devices are at risk of serious infections from exposure to the bacteria, which could require medical treatment.

The recall applies to 50-fluid-ounce bottles of Woolite Delicates detergent (SKU 62338-72724) with lot codes S24364, S24365, and S24366, available only on Amazon.com.

These bottles with the product are white with a light pink label and cap, with the lot code printed at the top of the back.

Reckitt advises consumers to stop using the product immediately and contact the company for a full refund.

Customers should mark “Recalled” on the bottle to receive a refund, take a photo displaying the UPC and lot code, and email it to Reckitt.

Similarly, Henkel, a German multinational chemical and consumer goods company, has initiated a voluntary recall of its Tec Italy Shampoo Totale due to potential contamination with Klebsiella oxytoca.

The bacterium can cause eye, nose, and skin infections, and poses a higher risk to individuals with weakened immune systems.

This recall affects 1,068 units of shampoo packaged in 33.81 fl. oz./1 L green plastic bottles, marked with Lot # 1G27542266 and UPC code 7501438375850.

The contamination was discovered during routine microbiological testing, but no adverse health effects have been reported so far.

Henkel is conducting the recall in collaboration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

According to a report by The Daily Mail, the 1,068 units were manufactured in Mexico for distribution in U.S. salons.

Henkel is taking precautionary measures to ensure consumer safety.

Consumers are advised to stop using the affected product immediately and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
