This move comes after the introduction of its locally recyclable, paper-based version in 2021.
USA – Aveda, an American plant-based hair and skin care brand, has unveiled its new recyclable sample sachets globally, following the introduction of its locally recyclable, paper-based version in 2021.
In collaboration with packaging partner Xela Pack, Aveda has enhanced the design to support worldwide sampling while significantly reducing plastic usage by over 80% compared to its 10ml plastic tubes.
The sachet is crafted from recyclable, FSC-certified paper, and Xela Pack reinforces its commitment to sustainability by planting two trees for every one harvested to optimize carbon capture.
Nicole Call, Director, Global Packaging Development, Aveda, said, “The redesign and global expansion of these sachets represents a powerful multiyear collaboration driven by the intersection of innovation, design for sustainability principles, and our desire to create meaningful experiences for our customers worldwide.”
“We are proud to demonstrate that sustainability and high performance can go hand-in-hand, and we hope that by integrating principles of recyclability and sustainability in packaging, we can continue to inspire meaningful change within the beauty industry.”
The new globally recyclable, paper-based sample sachet began its international rollout in February, debuting with the launch of Aveda’s Botanical Repair Bond Building Pre-Shampoo Treatment.
The brand plans to extend this sustainable sampling technology to more products later in the year.
Aveda is deeply committed to sustainability through its use of naturally derived ingredients, ethical sourcing practices, and cruelty-free formulations.
The brand leads in eco-conscious packaging, using 100% post-consumer recycled materials.
Aveda also operates its primary manufacturing facility on 100% wind and solar power and maintains carbon-neutral shipping to further minimize its environmental footprint.
In addition, the brand is a certified B Corporation, demonstrating its commitment to high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability across its business practices.
Meanwhile, Pulpex recently partnered with Evolve Organic Beauty to develop fibre-based, refillable bottles for the personal care brand’s newest shower products, reinforcing both companies’ commitment to sustainable innovation.
The collaboration marks a significant milestone, as Evolve Organic Beauty becomes the world’s first commercial user of Pulpex’s fiber-based bottle technology.
Evolve’s African Orange Aromatic Hand & Body Wash and Superfood Shine Shampoo are now available in 550 ml refillable formats.
Designed for both convenience and environmental impact, the bottles can be easily refilled at home and recycled through standard paper and cardboard recycling streams.
