Givaudan launches lemon balm extract ingredient for natural stress management

This ingredient provides a natural and clinically substantiated solution for individuals seeking effective stress relief and cognitive support in their daily lives.

SWITZERLAND – Givaudan, a Swiss manufacturer of fragrances and active cosmetic ingredients, introduced Zensera, a next-generation innovation designed to support stress management through a scientifically backed lemon balm extract.

This patent-pending ingredient is formulated to enhance both calmness and cognitive performance, making it particularly beneficial for individuals navigating stressful situations.

According to the company, Zensera delivers calming effects within the same day at a low daily dose of just 300 mg, with benefits lasting for a minimum of five hours.

Its versatility allows it to be incorporated into various applications, including beverages, gummies, chocolates, and hard candies, offering consumers convenient ways to experience its benefits.

Timothée Olagne, Head of Marketing, Health & Functional Solutions at Givaudan Taste & Wellbeing, stated, “Givaudan is dedicated to helping our customers meet the wellness needs of consumers with rigorously researched natural ingredients.”

“With 70% of adults in the U.S. feeling overwhelmed by work and daily responsibilities3, and 37% struggling to take action when stressed4, Zensera provides brands with a unique opportunity to support consumers when stress gets in the way.”

The extract works by optimizing GABA activity, a neurotransmitter associated with relaxation, through the activation of GABA receptors and inhibition of GABA transaminase.

This mechanism helps improve mental clarity, focus, and problem-solving abilities under stress.

Sustainably sourced in Europe, Zensera aligns with Givaudan’s commitment to responsible ingredient cultivation, ensuring minimal environmental impact while supporting the well-being of local communities.

With stress levels rising globally, this innovation provides a natural and clinically substantiated solution for individuals seeking effective stress relief and cognitive support in their daily lives.

According to a report published by Forbes Health, global stress levels remain high, with 41% of adults worldwide reporting significant stress.

The highest stress levels are found in Afghanistan (68%), followed by the United States (53%), where financial pressures, workplace challenges, and societal issues contribute to rising anxiety.

Recently, Givaudan launched Myromi, a new handheld device that is designed to transform how aromas are developed and tested.

This patent-pending, innovative technology is controlled using a smartphone.

Myromi supports up to eight flavour channels, enabling users to create customized aroma combinations in real time.

It enables instant customer feedback by allowing real-time blending and adjustments of aromas.

The device is lightweight and portable, making it suitable for use in various settings.

Myromi also provides a cost-effective way for brands to engage audiences and gain valuable insights during the co-creation process.
