Beiersdorf invests USD 342M to double production capacity in its Poznań center

Beiersdorf is not only increasing production capacity but also reinforcing its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and global market leadership.

GERMANY – Beiersdorf has reinforced its global production network with a substantial €300 million (USD 341.97 million) investment in expanding its manufacturing facility in Poznań, Poland.

This move doubles the plant’s production capacity to 500 million units annually and creates 200 new jobs, solidifying Poznań’s role as a key hub in Beiersdorf’s international operations.

According to the company, the expansion began in 2020 without disrupting ongoing production.

The facility integrates six additional highly automated production lines and a state-of-the-art microbiology laboratory.

These enhancements will enable Beiersdorf to supply over 100 markets worldwide with products from its renowned skincare brands, including NIVEA, Eucerin, Atrix, Hidrofugal, and Florena, as well as the regional Bambino brand.

Vincent Warnery, CEO of Beiersdorf, emphasized the significance of this investment, stating, “This significant investment fully underscores Beiersdorf’s growth ambitions by reinforcing our global manufacturing network and ensuring a reliable, resilient supply in a dynamic market environment.”

“The capacity expansion is more than an operational milestone built on cutting-edge manufacturing.”

This expansion aligns with Beiersdorf’s broader strategy to modernize its global production network.

The Poznań plant now operates on biogas, contributing to the company’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2045.

All of its European production sites, including those in Germany, Spain, and Switzerland, have already achieved climate neutrality, with ongoing investments in photovoltaic systems and heat pumps aimed at further enhancing environmental efficiency.

Recent capacity increases in Mexico and Brazil have strengthened regional supply chains, while a new distribution centre in Leipzig, Germany, is set to begin operations in 2027 to support European market demands further.

Meanwhile, Beiersdorf has teamed up with Vincere Biosciences, an American-based company, a biotechnology firm focused on developing innovative treatments for age-related diseases, in an investment aimed at revolutionizing skin health and ageing.

The investment aims to develop innovative skin care solutions by leveraging scientific advancements in cellular health and rejuvenation.

This partnership brings together Beiersdorf’s extensive expertise in active ingredient cosmetics and Vincere Biosciences’ pioneering research in mitochondrial health.

The collaboration focuses on mitophagy, the process of clearing damaged mitochondria from cells, to enhance skin renewal and longevity.
