The recognition strengthens Symrise’s position as a leader in sustainable cosmetics, reinforcing its Gold status in the Regenerative Alliance Program.

GERMANY – Symrise, a global manufacturer of flavours and active ingredients, has won the Embrace Natura Award in the Commitment to Life category, recognizing its leadership in sustainable innovation with the cosmetic ingredient Hydrolite 5 green.

The award, presented in the presence of João Paulo Ferreira, CEO of Natura, underscores Symrise’s dedication to advancing green chemistry and responsible sourcing.

The recognition strengthens Symrise’s position as a leader in sustainable cosmetics, reinforcing its Gold status in the Regenerative Alliance Program.

Penelope Uiehara, Global Account Director for Fine Fragrance, stated, “At Natura, all decisions regarding new products are guided by the triple bottom line, considering social, environmental, and economic impacts, with carbon reduction being a priority throughout the entire innovation pipeline.”

“Hydrolite 5  green stands as a clear testament to our shared commitment to advancing green chemistry principles and upcycling agricultural by-products into premium, sustainable ingredients.”

According to Symrise, Hydrolite 5 green is derived from three certified natural byproducts, including sugarcane bagasse, corncobs, and wood pulp, through an innovative upcycling process.

The ingredient is created through a patented, solvent-free process, effectively cutting its carbon footprint and preventing more than 202 tons of CO₂ emissions each year.

In addition, its energy-efficient production requires no heating or cooling, further lowering energy consumption.

This approach exemplifies Symrise’s commitment to transforming agricultural side streams into high-value, multifunctional ingredients.

According to the jury, Hydrolite 5 green stands out for its substantial environmental benefits, aligning with Natura’s commitment to sustainability.

The award comes after the company recently got honoured with the renowned Partner to Win Award at Unilever’s 2025 Awards Ceremony in London.

Unilever acknowledged Symrise’s initiative, Bridging the Gap, which aims to transform mint supply chains through decarbonisation, sustainability, and empowerment.

The initiative focuses on redefining India’s mint supply chains, addressing environmental, social, and economic challenges.
